As of December 20, 2023, BGSC will be instituting a new Chapter Leadership Grievance Process for Chapter Presidents, Vice Presidents and members to follow. This new conflict resolution process will result in better formal documentation that can be revisited, increased efficiencies, more transparency with key members of the Executive Team and more effective solutions that will benefit chapters in the end. All chapter leaders and members that are experiencing a grievance will be required to submit a formal grievance via a Chapter Leadership Conflict Resolution Form. The new Chapter Leadership Grievance Process will include the following steps.
Step 1: BGSC members or chapter leadership will submit a grievance via this form.
Form submissions are mandatory. Emails, text messages or calls are not to be sent to executive team members. If grievances are received outside the form then individuals will be redirected to the form before action can be taken.
Step 2: BGSC Executive team will write an email response to the recipient with a decision on how to move forward: 1) chapter leaders will be referred to self-guided mediation and required to complete the post-work after their mediation meeting 2) chapter leaders will be invited to a hearing with the BGSC Executive Team.
Issues that warrant a hearing: misuse of BGSC logo, misrepresentation on BGSC on social media, physical violence, abuse, harassment, fraud, theft, misuse of intellectual property, stalking, cyber bullying, sexual abuse, sexual harassment, misrepresenting your identity, stealing and misappropriation of funds, illegal drug use or other inappropriate behaviors that the Executive Team considers egregious.
Step 3: BGSC Executive Team will review all cases bi-monthly and will issue responses by the first of each month.
For chapter leaders only, please note that BGSC’s goal is to have every chapter leader report into a division leader. If you currently have a division leader, you can regularly seek counsel via 1:1 meetings. Our goal is for chapter leaders to take preventative measures early on with conflicts that involve other chapter leaders.
