JCI Puerto Rico Young Entrepreneur (CYE) program
The Creative Young Entrepreneur Program (CYE) recognises honours and celebrates exceptional young entrepreneurs who have started a business using creativity or have improved an existing business through innovative problem solving while adhering to the principles of sustainability. The core of the CYE program is for young leaders to showcase their up-and running businesses.

CYE challenges our youth to critically, innovatively, and creatively think by requiring them to provide an in-depth business model, their marketing position, and strategic goals on how their venture will begin to earn a profit and become sustainable.
How to apply?
1. Fill out an online application form in English.

2. Upload a detailed business plan for the project, including market analysis, strategic and financial information.

3. Attach a good quality (300 dpi) head and shoulders photograph in JPEG OR PNG format.

4. Applications will not be accepted after submission deadline.
Eligibility:
- Businesses must already be active (Minimum 3 months) either a new business or has improved an existing one. Participants must be owner/manager who is primarily responsible for the recent, or start-up performance of a privately held business.
- The applicant should be a resident of the Puerto Rico and be present in Puerto Rico during the judging process and for the Awards’ Ceremony.
- Applications are reserved for individuals aged between 18 to 40 years old.
- The competition is open to both JCI members and non-members, provided they meet all the requirements.
- JCI members who are not part of the 2024 JCI Puerto Rico CYE organizing team, can participate.
- Participants must provide a strong business plan, with realistic budget figures and other supportive evidence.
Rules & Requirements:
- Only for-profit businesses.
- The CYE program has been designed for you. Your Business Proposal needs to differentiate your business from other competitors. The clarity and descriptiveness of your proposal will make a difference and enhance your chances of becoming a finalist.

- The project bearer must not be a current JCI Board of Directors member.
- All application forms will only be accepted in ENGLISH since this will be the pitching language and the language of the international competitions and international trainings.
- Only one submission of a business venture is permitted per person.
- In case participants are selected for an interview, they need to have the ability to present and speak about their business goals in an articulated manner.
- Participants will be disqualified with incorrect information and/or non-submission of required documents.
- JCI reserves the right to disqualify any finalist or winner anytime using JCI’s own discretion.
- Business facing bankruptcy and legal pursuit is not allowed to participate.
- All strategic and financial information provided is considered private and strictly confidential. It will be shared only with the 2024 JCI Puerto Rico CYE Program management team and our panel of independent judges, all of whom are subject to confidentiality agreements.
Selection Process:
- Applications will be reviewed by a panel of 3 highly qualified, independent judges representing successful entrepreneurs, investors and/or business leaders. The panel will be headed by a Jury Chairperson.
- The Jury will consider the company’s current performance and place a premium on future development strategies and prospects.
- The Jury will shortlist promising participants, based on the information contained in the application forms.
- The shortlisted participants will have the opportunity to pitch their business and candidacy to the jury.
- The Jury will select one Winner and 2 runners-up for the award.
- The Jury’s decision is final and cannot be challenged.

*The marking will depend on the quality of the responses received to questions from the judges.

Kindly submit the following documents with your completed application and signed applicant’s agreement (scans/photocopies are acceptable):
1. A good quality, 4" x 6" (10 cm x 15 cm) professional photograph. The photo will be used for reference and production purposes related to the applicant’s progression within the program and for publicity purposes if selected.
2. ID card/Residence permit of the entrepreneur
3. Certificate of incorporation of the business.
4. Any file must be in JPG, JPEG , PNG, PDF Format and cannot be greater than 5MB of size.

Applicant Agreement Form
Use of information — I understand that the information and materials provided in this application will be used by 2024 JCI Puerto Rico CYE project team, the sponsors and collaborating organizations (as regards non-financial information) and the panel of independent judges for purposes of evaluating the application and creating a press release if I am selected to be one of the 2024 JCI Puerto Rico Creative Young Entrepreneur. I consent to the use of such information for these purposes and hereby confirm and represent that I have obtained any and all authorisations or waivers required in order for 2024 JCI Puerto Rico CYE project team, sponsors and judging panels to review and utilise applicant-provided information and materials in connection with the 2024 JCI Puerto Rico CYE Program. I agree that the deliberations of the panel of independent judges shall be confidential.

Release — in consideration of my participation in the 2024 JCI Puerto Rico CYE program, on behalf of myself and my heirs, executors and administrators, I hereby release and forever discharge JCI Puerto Rico and its affiliates, and their members, and the partners and the panel of independent judges from any and all liabilities, claims, actions, damages, costs or expenses of any nature arising out of or in any way connected with any information or materials submitted in connection with this application or with my participation in the 2024 JCI Puerto Rico CYE Program, including any events, ceremonies, or promotional activities related thereto, as well as the determinations of the panel of independent judges.

Use of photos, etc. — If I am selected as one of the 2024 JCI Puerto Rico Creative Young Entrepreneur, I hereby give JCI Puerto Rico and its affiliates, and the partners the non-exclusive and transferable right, but not obligation, to use, edit, publicize, and reproduce freely my name and other likeness, including but not limited to, biographical data, picture, portrait, photograph, film, videotape, recordings of my voice, or any written statements that I provide in connection with the 2024 JCI Puerto Rico CYE Program, including, but not limited to, the development and publication of marketing material, promotional publications, media publications and coverage, videos and other materials, whether such items are intended for an internal or external audience. I agree that no compensation shall be due to me or my company or its principals and employees for such usage.
