Community Outreach – Help spread the word about OLLI throughout Sarasota and Manatee counties. Volunteers will have a presence at Sarasota Art Museum, area farmer’s markets, senior expos and other events where we can promote our academic programs and membership.
Curriculum Committee (Jeff Ryder, chair) – As a lifelong learner you know how important it is to have a robust curriculum. Committee members review course proposals, conduct instructor orientation, review instructor evaluations, and serve as mentors to new instructors. The committee helps identify new instructors, and suggests new program ideas. Subject matter experts in the area of literature, science, finance, history, art, music, and other subjects help with course selection.
Membership committee (Tom Miller, chair) – A vibrant membership is essential to OLLI. Help to plan and implement activities that build, attract, and retain members. These activities include special events, community-building programs, and membership initiatives. The committee also publishes the monthly newsletter.
Office Assistants – Here’s an opportunity to volunteer in the “nerve center” – OLLI’s main office. You will be providing customer service for fellow members, assisting with course registrations, data entry, photocopying, and answering phone calls. Some additional training is required.
OLLI Greeter – You will lend your assistance at special events and the start of the new semesters directing members to their locations and generally helping people find their way.
Shared Interest Groups – Shared Interest Groups (SIGs) are open to members. They foster a sense of community by allowing members to engage with others who share a common interest.
Volunteer Ambassadors – Spread the word about becoming a volunteer by talking to your fellow students in class. At the beginning of each semester you’ll make a brief presentation to the class about all the volunteer opportunities and the added value of being a volunteer.
