Sports Scholarships
Candidates for 11+ Sports Scholarships are expected to demonstrate all-round ability in a number of sports and be motivated to participate in school teams and compete regularly and enthusiastically for the school.
They must demonstrate a high level of fitness, as well as a particular ability in at least one of the core sports on the assessment day which includes football, netball, swimming and athletics. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee that a candidate can be assessed in specialist sports that we do not offer or support as part of the curriculum, but do encourage specialist candidates to apply.
At submission, each candidate must submit a personal statement outllining their current sporting endeavours and achievements, detailing the level that they are playing for each sport eg. school or regional team, county level qualification etc.
You must also attach a recommendation/reference from your child's coach, club or school. Once an application is received, the Head of Sport will assessment their ability and eligibility, and successful candidates will be invited for an assessment morning.
During this session the Head of Sport will choose a shortlist of candidates who will be invited back for interview and they will be expected to show evidence of their abiity and commitment to fulfil the role of a Sports Scholar.
