Join Fellow Enthusiasts for a Day of Loving Fiber!
Choose from ONE of these classes taught by Palomar Handweavers and Spinners Guild members.
Each class will be held on September 7, 2024 from 10:00am - 4:00pm on the Museum Grounds. Bring your bag lunch and enjoy the beautiful grounds and fiber art collections.
Classes offered:
Rigid Heddle Weaving
Learn to create woven cloth on a rigid heddle loom. These skills can be employed to produce lovely textiles such as scarves, towels and table runners. In the class you will weave on a rigid heddle loom to create a 5 inch wide swath of fabric that can be used as a coaster. You will select yarn, prepare the loom and practice several different weaving techniques.
A handout will be provided. All supplies (loom, yarn, etc.) are included, just bring your creative ideas!
Materials Fee: $10 - pay instructor at class
Class size: 8 students maximum ages 18 and up
Registration Fee: $50 for AGSEM members or $60 for non-members
Location: Weaver's Barn
Beginning Spinning
Learn about fiber and how to make your own yarn using a variety of methods to include spinning on a wheel. This class is meant for beginners and those who might want to refresh their skills. Ashford Spinning Wheels will be provided.
Materials Fee: $10 - pay instructor at class
Class size: 6 students maximum ages 18 and up
Registration Fee: $50 for AGSEM members or $60 for non-members
Location: Spinner's Cottage
Inkle Weaving
Learn to create a decorative band that may be used for purse handles, camera bag straps, guitar straps, hat bands and key fobs. Using an Inkle loom, you will wind on yarn and weave a band in your choice of colors.
A handout will be provided. All supplies (loom, yarn, etc.) are included.

Bobbin Lace (March, July & September)
Learn the basics of lace making with this Torchon style lace class. You will weave a small bookmark of sample stitches using prethreaded bobbins and a printed pattern. All materials are provided.
