• AFTERCARE

Once your tattoo is done, some ointment will be applied to help with any irritation, and then neatly wrapped with a dri-loc pad. This bandage will help keep your new tattoo clean on your trip home.

Once you’re home, remove the bandage and wash off the ointment in warm water, using a gentle non abrasive soap (such as Dial, Dove, or Cera Ve). Allow your tattoo to dry for about an hour before applying your ointment (like A&D or Aquaphor. DO NOT use Vaseline). Follow that routine of washing, drying, then applying ointment twice a day for about a week.

After you’ve formed a good scab, you can go longer between cleaning, and only apply your ointment when it’s itchy or tight.

After about 2-3 weeks, your tattoo is going to start to peel and flake. DO NOT pull, pick at, or mess with the scabs! Doing so can pull out ink, or irritate the area and open you up for an infection. If it’s itchy, add some ointment. You can also lightly slap your tattoo to help ease any itchiness.

By week 4, most of the scabs and dry skin should have fallen off. Continue using ointment as needed.Total heal time for most tattoos is 4-6 weeks, and for larger tattoos it can be as long as 6+ weeks. Always consult your artist if you have any questions or conserns!

    After your After Care:

-Treat your new tattoo as you would a fresh open wound. Keep it clean!

-Use clean bed sheets, clean towels, and clean clothing for at least the first week while your skin is healing.

-Avoid letting any animals, children, or curious people touch your fresh tattoo.

-Avoid swimming or submerging your tattoo for at least 4-6 weeks. Showers are fine.

-Avoid scented lotions, abrasive soaps, or hand sanitizers for at least 4-6 weeks.

-If you think your tattoo may be infected, GO TO URGENT CARE FIRST BEFORE ANYTHING ELSE! Then, if you do have an infection, alert your artist so they can follow any safety and cleaning protocols.

-Once your tattoo is fully healed, always wear sunscreen! This will improve the longevity of your tattoo.
