1. Initial Application of Second Skin
After your tattoo session, your artist will apply a layer of Second Skin or a similar transparent film over your fresh tattoo. This protective covering helps shield your tattoo from bacteria and accelerates the initial healing process.
2. Leave Second Skin on for the Recommended Time
Keep the Second Skin on for 3-4 days. The film may drop before that. It is totally fine.
3. Gently Remove Second Skin
Once the recommended time has passed, carefully peel off the Second Skin. Do this in a slow and controlled manner to avoid pulling or irritating the tattooed skin.
4. Wash Your Hands and Gentle Cleansing
Before touching your tattoo, wash your hands thoroughly with mild, fragrance-free soap to prevent introducing any bacteria. Using lukewarm water gently cleanse your tattoo. Gently rub it. Use your clean hands to remove any ointment, blood, or plasma. Pat the tattoo dry with a clean, soft towel.
5. Apply a Thin Layer of Ointment
Apply a thin layer of tattoo ointment. Repeat this process 2-3 times daily for the first 3-4 days.
.
6. Avoid Sun Exposure
Shield your tattoo from direct sunlight during the healing process.
7. Avoid Soaking
For the first few weeks, avoid soaking your tattoo in water. Quick showers are recommended, and be cautious when washing the tattooed area.
8. Avoid Scratching
Resist the urge to scratch your tattoo. If itching occurs, gently pat or tap the itchy area.
9. Avoid Alchohol and Unhealthy food
For the first two weeks, avoid drinking any alcoholic beverages and unhealthy food (extremely spicy, fatty, sugary food, etc.) as they can cause skin inflammation and interfere with the healing process
10. Wear Loose Clothing
Opt for loose, breathable clothing to prevent friction and irritation to the tattooed area.
11. Stay Hydrated
Stay well-hydrated by drinking plenty of water. Hydration supports the overall healing process.
