"In the Trees" is more than an event to just sell art and music. Artists will be scattered throughout the park's expansive woods, inviting the public to explore, listen, look and buy. The park is conveniently located west of Woodward between Six and Seven Mile Roads. The April 26th Earth Day celebration is brought to you by Integrity Shows in partnership with People for Palmer Park.
Participation Information
Visual artists will be given as much space as required for an installation, with preference given to natural images, or installations promote conservation. Those selected will also receive adjacent space to display and sell art. There is no fee for those selected, though an optional donation to People for Palmer Park is encouraged.
Musical artists will be spread loosely through the woods. They will play mostly acoustic music (small speakers are acceptable) and may sell tracks, CDs, records, music or instruments. Similar to visual artists, there is no fee for those invited, though donations to People for Palmer Park are encouraged.
The event lasts one day, with drive-up loading in the morning and late afternoon removal.
Audience
The park is bordered on two sides by some of the most affluent households in Detroit, people with large homes and the means to buy art. Our other neighbors are lower to middle income. Based on previous Earth Day and event programming, we would expect about 1200 people to attend.
DEADLINE February 15. Invited artists will be notified by February 20th.
There will be an opportunity to meet in the park to select your location in early April. Set up is Saturday, April 26th from 7:30am until 10:00am. The event runs from 10:00am until 4:00pm and then art should be removed by 6:00pm. If you need additional time it may be available.
