Code of Conduct
Festivals of Cedarburg, Inc. is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization whose mission is to work toward sustaining a vital and healthy business and retail community by showcasing the city’s attributes, encouraging tourism, and fostering civic, cultural and educational interests. Participation in the organization’s programs is subject to the observance of the organization’s rules and procedures. The activities outlined below are strictly prohibited. Any merchant/their staff, vendor, volunteer, FOC staff, FOC Board of Directors, or other participants in Festivals of Cedarburg’s events or day-to-day business activities, who violates this Code is subject to discipline, up to and including removal from the current festival and potential expulsion from future festivals/FOC events.
FOC is committed to providing a friendly, safe, supportive, and harassment-free environment for all event attendees and participants, regardless of gender, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, religion or other group identity.
This Code of Conduct outlines FOC’s expectations for all event attendees and participants, including all FOC staff and board members, Cedarburg merchants and their staff, vendors, media representatives, sponsors and volunteers. Cooperation is expected from everyone, and organizers will actively enforce this code up to and throughout FOC events. Violations are taken seriously.
FOC expects FOC staff and Board of Directors, Cedarburg merchants and their staff, vendors, sponsors, other participants, as well as community members to communicate professionally and constructively, whether in person, in writing or virtually, handling dissent or disagreement with courtesy, dignity and an open mind, being respectful when providing feedback, and being open to alternate points of view. Festivals of Cedarburg Executive Director and/or staff should be the first point of communication for any questions or concerns. If staff feel the issue needs to be brought to the board for consideration, the Executive Director will make that decision.
Likewise, FOC expects that any sharing of information about the organization or any event attendees or participants via public communication channels be shared responsibly and in a way that clearly distinguishes individual opinion from fact.
Unacceptable behavior:
• Abusive, discourteous or rude language towards a staff member, volunteer or another participant, merchant or vendor
• Bringing into festival footprint dangerous or unauthorized materials such as explosives, firearms, weapons or other similar items. Animals and hard alcohol are also prohibited on the streets during festival events.
• Verbal, physical or visual harassment of another participant, staff member or volunteer. This includes but is not limited to sexual harassment, deliberate intimidation, harassment via social media platforms or secondary sources.
• Actual or threatened violence toward any individual or group.
• Conduct endangering the life, safety, health or well-being of others.
• Failure to follow any FOC policy or procedure.
• Harassment or bullying towards any staff, volunteer, merchant, vendor or other participants in FOC’s events.
• Failing to cooperate with or follow the directive of FOC staff, FOC volunteers or FOC board members, City of Cedarburg emergency workers (police/fire/EMT) or City of Cedarburg officials.
If a participant, in either real or virtual space, engages in inappropriate, harassing, abusive or destructive behavior or language, FOC Board will determine and carry out the appropriate course of action, including warning the offender, expulsion from the event without a refund and/or banning the offender from future FOC events and activities. All participants are expected to observe these rules and behaviors in all event venues, including online venues. Please participate responsibly and with respect for the rights of others.
Acceptance and signature of this contract indicates you have read and will adhere to these rules and expectations for the length of this contract.
Failure to sign/agree to Code of Conduct will void contract and street space will be reverted back to Festivals.
Merchant agrees to comply with the rules and terms set forth in this contract, which is incorporated into and shall be a part of this contract, in return, merchant will be allowed to participate in the 2024 Strawberry Festival and/or Wine & Harvest Festival. Merchant recognizes that Festivals of Cedarburg, Inc. reserves the ultimate decision and discretion on who shall and shall not participate in this and any future festival. When you sign this Agreement, your business acknowledges that they shall save, keep harmless and defend the City of Cedarburg, Festivals of Cedarburg, Inc., and all of its officers, employees and agents, against any and all liability claims, costs of whatever kind and nature, for injury to or death of any person or persons and for loss and damage to any property (City or other) occurring in connection with or in any way incident to or arising out of the occupancy, use, service, operation or performance of work in connection with this contract and acts or omissions of Festivals of Cedarburg, employees, agents or representatives. The Parties agree to be in compliance with all applicable Governmental laws, ordinances and regulations which the Parties acknowledge may be amended from time to time. Festivals of Cedarburg retains the ability to modify their rules to remain in compliance with any change in Governmental laws, ordinances or regulations.
