Acknowledgments by Client
The law imposes penalties and interest for underpayment or underestimation of tax liabilities. By engaging our services, you acknowledge that responsibility for any understated taxes, associated penalties, and interest rests solely with you. Our firm is not liable for such amounts. If you require details about these penalties or their application, please contact us for more information. Additionally, you acknowledge that tax laws are subject to changes, which may occasionally have retroactive effects. Our firm does not warrant or guarantee that such changes will not impact the amount of any refund, credit, or tax liability applicable to you.
Confidentiality
Under applicable laws, certain communications between a tax preparer and their client may be protected by privilege and shielded from disclosure to the IRS. However, any information you provide to our firm for the purpose of preparing your tax return is not protected by this privilege and may be disclosed to or requested by the IRS. We take every precaution to protect your data but cannot guarantee immunity from legal inquiries or requirements for disclosure.
Client Responsibilities
You are responsible for providing our firm with complete, accurate, and timely information necessary for preparing your tax return. Failure to do so may result in incomplete or inaccurate filings. Furthermore, you agree that full payment of our preparation fees must be made prior to the filing or delivery of your completed tax return. It is also your obligation to review the final return for accuracy before it is filed.
Audit Assistance
Tax returns are subject to examination by the IRS. Should your return be selected for audit, you are responsible for furnishing original source documents to substantiate the information reported. While our firm can assist with audit preparation and representation, such services are not included in the tax preparation fees and will require a separate engagement letter and fee arrangement. To ensure compliance and preparation for potential audits, you should retain all relevant tax records and supporting documentation for a minimum of three years following the filing of the return.
Additional Terms
• Timeliness: To meet filing deadlines, all required documents must be submitted to our firm by the agreed-upon date. Delays in submission may result in the need to file for an extension.
• No Guarantees: While we strive to ensure accuracy in preparing your returns, we do not guarantee that the returns will not be subject to additional taxes, penalties, or audits by the IRS.
• Third-Party Liability: Our firm is not responsible for any third-party errors, including those by financial institutions, payroll providers, or other data sources, which may impact the accuracy of your return.
By engaging our services, you acknowledge that you have read and understood these terms and that you accept the responsibilities and limitations outlined above.
