• Letter to MP Shire re: Parking on Arthur's Seat Road

  • Dear Mornington Peninsula Shire,

I am writing to express my concern regarding the removal of parking along Arthur’s Seat Road, in front of the Red Hill Stores - including the General Store and Red Gum BBQ in Red Hill. I have recently visited and found much of the on-street parking along this stretch of road has been made No Standing. Parking in this community is incredibly difficult and during peak periods of weekends and school holidays the demand for limited spaces is enormous.

Without more parking areas established for visitors, we rely on the existing on-road parking that has served these shops for the previous decades. It’s incredibly frustrating that Council have decided to remove this parking, without providing alternatives, putting increased pressure on an already difficult parking environment and encouraging increasingly unsafe and illegal practices.

I believe that the Council has made the wrong decision in the removal of these spaces and have not adequately balanced the needs of the community, including business and tourism. I am asking that the no-standing signs along Arthurs Seat Road be removed and made accessible to parking again.

    Thank you.
