Our medical team is going to take every precaution to keep your pet safe and comfortable. We'll run bloodwork to make sure they can properly process and eliminate anesthesia. If the doctor has any concerns about the bloodwork results, they'll reach out to you prior to the procedure. Otherwise, no news is good news.
After you leave the office, your pet will be brought to the treatment area and begin to receive care from the doctor and technician. Our medical team is going to continuously monitor your pet and pay close attention to their vital signs during and after their procedure. Your pet will be completely asleep and have no sensation of pain once they're anesthetized. They will also have a catheter placed and will be receiving fluids to keep them hydrated.
As the anesthesia wears off, your pet will be taken to our recovery area and will be assigned an Animal Care Assistant. Your pet might notice that noises sound louder than usual and feel drowsy as they wake up. Your pet is going to stay with us until their scheduled discharge time so that we can continue to monitor their recovery. They'll be offered small amounts of food and water when they're awake, but their appetite might not return in full until they start to recover.
