The Troup-Coweta Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. awards these scholarships as a means to provide financial assistance to secondary students who wish to pursue higher education goals. Applicants must submit a completed application with necessary signatures, two recommendation letters, an official transcript, and an essay. The eligible applicants will be evaluated on their scholastic discipline, personal achievement, personal goals, and financial needs. Scholarship winners will be selected from the eligible applications. Applications must be returned to your counselor no later than March 21, 2025. The recipient will receive award money to be used towards higher education assistance during the first semester of the ensuing school year once verification of enrollment has been provided to the chapter.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
The applicant must:
- Be a graduating high school senior in one of the following service areas: Coweta and Troup Counties
- Have a cumulative GPA of B or better.
- Have an SAT score of 800 or higher OR ACT composite score of 18 or higher
- Be accepted to an accredited institution of higher education (Technical College, Junior College, or University)
- Submit an official transcript inclusive of cumulative GPA, class rank, and scores (ACT/SAT)
- Submit a typed essay (topic and guidelines included in application)
- Submit two signed recommendation letters from an educator, community organization associate, or professional affiliate (job supervisor). NOTE: Each recommendation must be from a different category. Example: 1 letter of recommendation from an educator and 1 letter of recommendation from a community organization associate.
- Each letter of recommendation must include the following:
- Name, occupation, telephone number, and email address of the recommender
- The length of time they have known and worked with you, along with a clear description of the relationship (Core Teacher or Community Service Leader)
- A description of your character, leadership, and work ethic
- (For Community Service) The type of community service activities in which you have been involved, along with your specific role.
Please share the above requirements with your recommenders to ensure their letters provide the necessary information. Each letter of recommendation must be submitted electronically and requires a signature from the recommender.
