Facility Dogs are skillfully trained to work in a facility (school, therapist office, hospital) and assist their handler in helping their clients in a number of beneficial ways.
A Facility Dog may be trained to demonstrate lying on and entering an MRI machine to reduce anxiety about the procedure for a patient. A Facility Dog can work in the schools as a loving and nonjudgmental listening ear to a student reading aloud. They can assist in comforting students in crisis and provide a moment of joy and reprieve in the middle of a long school day. A Facility Dog may work in the courts to provide comfort to a victim recounting a painful story.
