Women face many hurdles to involvement in outdoor recreation and water-based professions. Lack of access or knowledge about existing opportunities, cultural capital issues, cultural practices, and historically embedded values contribute to the absence of women of color in marine and aquatic opportunities.
Courageous Leap and Black Girls Boat are coming together to empower women to take to the water. Through the Bay Mini-Grant on behalf of the Tampa Bay Estuary Program, these two women-led organizations are cultivating aquatic experiences throughout the year that will leave all participants confident and inspired to take the helm!
