Present a brief history of the project or the person you are nominating. If nominating an individual or group, provide background information on their work, community contributions and associations. If nominating a property, structure, or site, include an architectural description of the property, the architectural style, any association with historic people or events, any historic designations, and its importance as a community resource. If you have the designation report, please upload it as well.
2. Type of Project
If nominating an individual or group, specify and explain the specific type of work done and any significant results of the work. Examples can include writing, art, surveying, advocacy, local leadership, and more. If nominating a property, structure, or site, specify restoration, rehabilitation, adaptive reuse, landscape, educational, studies, or other. Describe the scope of the project. Details to consider for this might be: preservation philosophy, the use(s) of the structure, the people it will serve, and the manner in which compliance with the Secretary of Interior’s Standards were used, and any other pertinent information.
3. Condition and Challenges
If the nomination is for a structure or site, describe the condition before the project. Other details to consider are project challenges, such as funding or financing, technical issues, development pressures, politics, code issues, etc. If nominating an individual or group, explain working conditions and any challenges encountered during work, or hurdles trying to produce any tangible products or items. If applicable, were tax credits used for the project?
4. Public Benefit
Describe the overall impact of the project, how it advances historic preservation or celebrates cultural heritage in San Diego County, and how it provides specific benefits to the public. Highlight how the project can serve as a model of the benefits and possibilities of historic preservation for similar projects.
