    • If you did not do already receive and post your CtP social banner, please do the following:

A positive online presence will help you look good whenever people (including universities and potential employers) search you online.

We are providing interns with social media banners, which are designed to greatly improve your online presence and your prospects.

Please see the sample banner above. The quote from the NY Times will show that you worked for a prestigious organization, and the headline will show that we valued you.

      1. First, submit the short form called Intern Social Banner, which appears at https://form.jotform.com/232965412943057  It just asks for your name, the way you want it to appear, and your headshot.
      2. We will use that to automatically generate your personalized social media banner. The thank you page and confirmation email, which follow the submission form, will direct you to download your banner.
      3. Then, please post your personalized banner to Linkedin and to any social media accounts you have, along with the message that we provide in the thank you page and confirmation email that follow the submission form.
      4. Then use the 'Social Banner Posting Report 2023_11_10' form to let us know that you have posted that banner. Find it at: https://form.jotform.com/230345784371155

Of course, be sure to add Changing The Present to your work history, too. Employers prefer applicants whom they see as engaged and productive.

    • OPT, CPT, or Neither
    • Please check one of the three options in this question.

    • Contribution from Interns
    • OPT Interns, please review this section carefully.

We are already making the world a better place by making it easy and rewarding for people to show their love by making a meaningful charitable donation in a friend's name instead of buying yet more "stuff."

Imagine how much good nonprofits could do with even 1% of the $450 billion Americans spend each year on birthday, wedding, and holiday presents.

      A Very Efficient Nonprofit

We are very cost-efficient. We have no paid staff and no office space. And as a nonprofit, nobody is profiting.

Expenses So We Can Serve You and Those in Need

However, we do have extensive software licenses, hosting costs, insurance, accounting, audit, and other costs, which we need to cover to operate and to provide internships for you and your peers.

      OPT Interns are Helping

Many of our recent interns made a $250 donation when they got a job and ended their internship. As one wrote,

"You totally saved me! If I had not found Changing The Present, I would have had to pay a fortune to some staffing company (some charge a $1k to $5k upfront fee plus as much as 30% of my salary for one to three years). Otherwise, I would have had to leave the country when I ran out of unemployment days. Even if I found a job in time, unemployment days during first-year OPT are deducted from allowable unemployment days during STEM extension.

The $250 donation is just about one day's pay at my new job, so I am happy to help a nonprofit that helped me so much!"

      Asking for Your Support

They thought that all our interns would be glad to do the same. We hope that you see it the same way and that you, too, will make a tax-deductible contribution so that we can continue to pursue our charitable mission and to offer internships to worthy graduates.

      Linkedin
"41% of LinkedIn members surveyed consider volunteer work equally as valuable as paid work experience when evaluating candidates."

      Deloitte
"82% of hiring managers are more likely to choose a candidate with volunteer experience, and 85% of those are willing to overlook other CV flaws when a candidate includes volunteer work."

      U.S. News
"Including volunteer work on your resume can complement your experience, highlight your skill set and give employers a sense of your values."
