HAIR EXTENSIONS AFTERCARE
BRUSHING:
-Comb or brush through your extensions daily to prevent matting and tangling.
-When brushing the hair, always start at the ends and work your way up to the roots. Support the base of the extensions by applying gentle pressure to the root as to not tug on the natural hair.
-If you are a rough sleeper it is recommended that you sleep with your hair in a loose ponytail.
WASHING:
-Try not to wash your hair more than twice a week if possible with your lifestyle. You should brush your hair right before washing to remove any shedding.
-Use a sulfate-free shampoo to wash your hair under lukewarm water. Massage gently without twisting your hair. Apply conditioner to the middle of hair on down to avoid build up of product at the roots which could result in beads slipping.
-After washing, gently squeeze out any excess water and pat dry with a towel. Do not pin or roll your hair while wet.
PRODUCTS:
-Avoid any products containing silicone and products with a high alcohol percentage. The use of protein products should be avoided on hair extensions. The extensions are infused with protein and do not need any additional protein layering.
STYLING:
-Your hair is weakest when it's wet! If going to bed after washing, dry your hair before lying down. When you toss and turn, the friction can cause your hair to break and tangle up! Keep the heat of the blowdryer low as not to effect bonding points on extensions. NEVER blowdry your hair upside down.
-Overexposure to heat from your hair dryer, hot tools, the sun and tanning beds can dry out your extensions causing them pre-mature damage as well as risking discoloration. Heat setting on hot tools should not exceed 350 degrees.
SUMMERTIME:
-Avoid exposing your extensions to chlorinated or saltwater pools, ocean water and avoid washing your hair in places that have hard water, as the high mineral content can cause discoloration and tangling.
-Extensions react to the chemical avobenzine in sunscreen causing to turn either a pink or orange color. It's very hard to reverse, even with a clarifying shampoo and toner. You should opt for a natural zinc or mineral based suncreen instead to avoid any discolorations.
-Wind damage from riding on boats, motorcycles, or any other vehicle can destroy the hair as the top of the weft becomes damaged from removing the excessive tangles from flapping around in the wind. Try wearing a bandana or baseball cap to secure the hair down.
MAINTENANCE APPOINTMENTS:
-Always stay up to date with your maintenance appointments. Move up timing is based off of your natural texture. For fine texture every 5-6 weeks, medium texture 7-8 weeks and thicker textures 8-10 weeks.
