Dear Counselor in Training Candidate,
Before you begin completing your application be sure to read this letter.
At the MetroWest YMCA, we take the Counselor in Training (CIT) Program very seriously. We believe the future of our camps lie within you. We will train you and give you the tools necessary to become a great counselor. You will be the one who determines how these tools are used. Whether you have been a camper before or this is your first experience with us, we believe you have the potential to be a great asset to camp.
A CIT will work directly with campers at our Hopkinton Summer Camp at the Outdoor Center. During a week-long training, you will learn the skills that will help you become a successful Counselor in Training. You will then put these skills in place as you assist camp counselors in supporting campers and leading activities throughout the following weeks.
Please understand if you are accepted into the CIT Program you are not a “camper”. This means from the moment you accept this position, you will become a positive role model at camp, at the YMCA, and in public. As a CIT, you are a representative of the YMCA. Campers of all ages will be looking to you for comfort, direction, and guidance.
Your candidacy will be determined based on this application, your letters of recommendation, and a required guardian/teen meeting with our Associate Executive Director of Camping Services.
Thank you for your interest in becoming a CIT!
Sincerely,
MetroWest YMCA Team
