As salaamu alaikum families! It brings us great joy to welcome you and your family to Alif Schoolhouse. We look forward to supporting your child's growth and making beautiful memories together along the way. Please fill out this application for consideration to our 2026-2027 Academic Year program.
About Alif Schoolhouse

Alif Schoolhouse has been operating since 2013. Our parent-led cooperative model is designed to thoughtfully bridge your child's learning experience to your home life by integrating you--the parents and family--into the learning experience. This evidence-based approach allows us to collectively raise more confident, curious, and resilient learners.

We seek to nurture a strong sense of self-awareness and aspiration during this crucial and delicate stage of development for children ages 4-12 years. We look forward to continuing the growth of this childhood education program for Muslim children in Chicago's Hyde Park neighborhood and beyond. Insha’Allah, they will have a valuable experience, grow closer to Allah, and create lifelong friends and memories.

Program Dates

Academic Year 2026-2027 will run from August 24, 2026 to June 11, 2027 on the following schedule:
- Monday - Friday, 9:00 am - 3:00 pm
- Holidays, breaks and school closures will be outlined on the school calendar and distributed to enrolled families
- *We also offer a PART-TIME option for families for whom daily programming isn't a fit. If selecting a part-time option, tuition will be adjusted accordingly.
Tuition and Sliding Scale Info:

In alignment with our cooperative model, Alif Schoolhouse utilizes a sliding scale system to support varying levels of intended school participation, as well as the unique financial means of each family. The sliding-scale system is aimed at allowing us to do our best at accommodating all families and continuing transparency around pricing. This is a self-selecting sliding scale. For certain tiers, you may be asked to present proof of income eligibility. We ask that you review the 4 tiers and select the options that best align with your family’s budget and ability to contribute. We value all of the time, aid, and dedication that each of you is willing to devote to our program!

*Pricing below is per student, per month*

Tier 1 "Foundational Families"

$750/month We recommend this option if your family meets one or more of the following criteria:
- Has extremely limited expendable income and they’d otherwise not be able to afford the program for their child(ren). (Please Note: You may be asked to submit proof of income for eligibility).
- Are willing to be strong on-the-ground supporters of school-related needs to balance tuition costs. This includes an estimated 4-6 hours of monthly schoolhouse engagement, including but not limited to: in-classroom support and administrative tasks.
- Are willing to make an annual commitment of (at least) $5000 of community raised funds through individual and collective fundraising efforts.
Tier 2 "Pioneers of Stability"

$1100/month We recommend this option if your family meets one or more of the following criteria:
- Has extremely limited expendable income. (Please Note: You may be asked to submit proof of income for eligibility).
- Are willing to be strong on-the-ground supporters of school-related needs to balance tuition costs. This includes an estimated 2-4 hours of monthly schoolhouse engagement, including but not limited to: in-classroom support and administrative tasks.
- Are willing to make an annual commitment of (at least) $3000 of community raised funds through individual and collective fundraising efforts.
Tier 3 "Community Leaders"

$1450/month We recommend this option if your family meets one or more of the following criteria:
- Needs a little extra assistance but can basically cover tuition costs.
- Are willing to generally help with minor school needs as a way to balance tuition and uphold the school. This includes an estimated 1 - 2 hours of monthly schoolhouse engagement, possibly done remotely.
- Are willing to make an annual commitment of (at least) $1000 of community raised funds through individual and collective fundraising efforts.
Tier 4 "Pillars of Support"

$1800/month This tier is priced at the current market rate for similar programs. We recommend this level for families who meet one or more of the following criteria:
- Can comfortably cover the full cost of tuition.
- Has little to no capacity for engaging with the schoolhouse regularly beyond basic parental involvement.
- Understands the need to fully participate in fundraising efforts but would not like to be held to any minimum fundraising commitments.
Tuition Adjustment Candidates

We recognize that, despite the flexibility of our sliding scale tier system, some families may need additional options to meet their family’s needs. This may be due to broader financial limitations and/or logistical challenges. For these circumstances, tuition assistance support may be available.

Additional Enrollment Information

Upon formal acceptance into the program, a $300 enrollment fee is required to reserve your child’s spot in the program. This enrollment fee is used to help cover program startup costs and classroom supplies for the year, and may be split up among multiple invoices for convenience. The Parent Agreement will further detail information about tuition, fees and additional enrollment documentation.

Applications will be prioritized based on factors such as the age distribution of applicants and parents' ability to offer program support. By completing this form and signing below, you acknowledge that a $50 per application non-refundable application fee is due with the application. (Alif agrees to refund the application fee if an application is not accepted for any reason.) Once you receive formal acceptance into the program, you understand that an additional $300 enrollment fee, along with enrollment documents, will be due. (Enrollment fee can be split across multiple invoices.) By completing this form, you also commit to enrolling your child into the Academic Year program, understanding that a spot will be reserved for your based on your application and you are committing to paying the fees for the program, regardless of whether your child attends all or any of days of program. You agree to pay the full balance of your enrollment selections and authorize monthly autopay payments to cover the cost of your tuition and enrollment fees as noted above.
