Summer Camp Counselors in Traning Background:
Peoples Gospel Church is excitingly planning our children summer camp 2024. This is a meticoulously planned project to provide quality coaching and training for young people who have a passion to build up younger lives.
Our vision is to help build you up by create community building strategy to achieve a two-fold purpose of
1. building Grade 6-12 youth team to become passionate and capable leaders to make an impact on younger children that reflect's Christ's love for all people.
2. Building up children spiritually by enjoying a fun-filled Bible camp experience led by Christian youth and young adults who are dedicated to mentor them. Let the little children come to Jesus and experience His love through us. We are looking for passionate and experienced young individuals for such exciting vision and mission.
3. Gain invaluable friendship that may last a lifetime through these yearly repeated project.
We are recruiting a total of 8 Camp Counselors-in-training CITS in this year to plan for a vibrant community for children and families.
During the period, you will all be reporting to the Counselors, who in turn will be reporting to the Youth Coordinators Team.
Job Summary:
You will be supervised and mentored by Counselors and Coordinators. You will be trained and guided to lead and bless children campers in a team setting through children’s summer camp. Your job will be very driven, busy, highly committed but very rewarding.
The ideal candidate will be a great player in leadership and communication skills. You should actively participate in all staff training and meetings. You should show genuine passion for working with and empowering children and youth.
You will be assisting the Camp Counsellors in daily administration of the children summer camp. You will be assigned to lead a same small group of around 5 kids each week to become their model, leader and big brother or sister in Christ.
You will ensure the well-being and safety of all your kids, leading Bible action songs, small group games, crafts, activities and Bible studies.
You are requiring to maintain a daily log of work hours and submit to the Camp Coordinator(s) at the end of each day.
When the Camp Counsellor is away or absent, you may be required to act as the deputy leader.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Christian who attends church regularly and
2. Preferably having previously serving in ministry experience e.g in children ministry, youth ministry or summer camp
3. Completed Grade 8 or above by July 2nd, 2024
4. Previous summer-camp volunteering experience is preferred
5. Enjoy being with kids, patient, enthusiastic, polite, team-player and can serve as a positive role model
6 weeks’ Work Term: (July 2nd to Aug 9th)
2 weeks of Pre camp (starting July 2nd) expected to be from 9am to 4pm
3 weeks of camp (July 15-Aug 2 )
During the camp, Counsellors in Training (CIT) are expected to arrive by 8am and dismiss at 5pm at camp location
1 weeks of Post camp (Aug 6-9) expected to be 830am to 430pm
On the week of Aug 6-9, the whole youth team will be do evaluation, transitioning camp to church ministry followup, as well as an exciting outreach initiative where we will reach out to the community children by helping a Taekwondo school to reach out to kids by repeating our bible camps materials. Half of the team will go 2 days and the other half of our team will go the other 2 days. When a team is not helping the school, we will be doing evaluation, followup and planning. A Team bonding and fun day will also happen in this week.
Some special team building and training may happen during the Pre and Post camp period and they will be determined by early June.

Certificate or Honorarium:
Upon successful completion with good standing, you will receive a certificate of volunteering. CIT with good standing throughout the whole period may receive a token of gift apprecataion from the church.

Volunteering Term: 5 weeks (July 2nd to Aug 9th, 2024)
We cannot allow partial working weeks or days nor any vacation in between the above period.
