Financial Distribution Guidelines
Purposes
The Hampton Mayor's Committee for People with Disabilities is organized and solemnly dedicated to assisting people with disabilities of the City of Hampton regardless ofrace, color or creed. In accordance with the philosophy, objectives and programs as follow:
- Develop and conduct educational programs for the public; for professional personnel concerned with the treatment of people with disabilities, and for employers and others as a means of helping people with disabilities improve their lives physically, emotionally, intellectually and vocationally within the community.
- Propose programs and services in health, welfare, education, recreation and employment which are necessary for the interest of people with disabilities in the city.
- Cooperate and consult with other committee, agencies and organizations for appropriate activities involving people with disabilities.
- Review and make recommendations to appropriate organizations concerning issues involving people with disabilities.
- Undertake such special projects in the interest of people with disabilities as the Mayor may assign.
- Represent the Office of the Mayor as appropriate.
- Do anything necessary and proper to accomplish the purpose of the committee.
The HMCFPWD’S is organized and operated exclusively for the above stated purposes, and no part of funds raised or appropriated to the HMCFPWD’S shall benefit any private member (Article Three – Constitution And By-Laws of The Hampton Mayor’s Committee for People with Disabilities)
Financial Requests
Funding Amount: The committee will distribute grants ranging in the amounts of $100.00 to $1,500.00, and are made on a one-time per fiscal year per individual basis and are non-renewable and non-transferable.
Geographic Area: The grants will be provided and distributed to serve residents of Hampton, Virginia.
Recipient Restrictions: Grants are made to individuals, agencies, and programs, who have documented disabilities and those serving people with disabilities.
Grant Considerations: The committee's philosophy and objective are to provide assistance to those who are serving / helping people with disabilities improve their lives physically, emotionally, intellectually and vocationally within the community.
Grant Application Process
Application: Those interested in submitting an application for a financial request should complete the application below or an application can be emailed or sent by U.S. mail at your request.
Acknowledgment: After submitting your request, you will receive an acknowledgment of receipt of your application by email or one will be sent to you in the US Mail. You will be contacted with a decision. A request for an update is not required.
Deadlines: Applications may be submitted beginning in January 2024. The applications will be accepted as follows:
Application due date: The 2-cycle deadline and award is due on:
September 30 – January 1 Winter Cycle
March 31 – July 1 Summer Cycle

Please note the committee members are volunteers with no paid staff, so we would appreciate it if you would keep your correspondence to a minimum. However, if you have crucial questions regarding the application process, you should send your message to mcfpwd@gmail.com.
Questions regarding the likelihood of funding will not be answered by an individual, as the HMCFPWD’S decision-making process is by a committee vote. Please be advised that there is no appeal process once a decision to distribute funds is made.
