Sorority's History:

Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated was organized on January 16, 1920 at the campus of Howard University, Washington, D.C. As a result of encouragement given by Charles Taylor and Langston Taylor (members of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Incorporated), the five founders of Zeta Phi Beta, known as the Five Pearls, formed a sisterhood to encourage the highest standards of scholarship through scientific, literary, cultural, and educational programs. They also promoted service projects on college campuses and in the community, fostered sisterhood, and exemplified the idea of Finer Womanhood. On September 1, 2011, Omega Delta Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated was chartered for the Friendswood area of Texas. This chapter was founded by 32 college-educated women who were committed to the statutes of the founding Five Pearls of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated.
Purpose:

Consistent with the founding principles of Scholarship, Service, Sisterhood, and Finer Womanhood, the Omega Delta Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated will award scholarships to college-bound, high school seniors from Friendswood, northern Galveston County, and northern Brazoria County.
Reward:

Selected individuals from the pool of qualified applicants will be awarded a scholarship for financial assistance during the 2025-2026 academic year.
Qualifications:

Interested candidates must meet the following criteria to qualify for this award:
- Submit completed online scholarship award application no later than March 30, 2025.
- Unofficial transcript* reflecting a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 grading scale or a minimum GPA of 4.0 on a 5.0 grading scale. An official transcript must be emailed by the high school registrar to omegadeltazetascholarship@gmail.com.
- An official copy of ACT and/or SAT scores*
- Resume*
- Three letters of recommendation* from a school counselor, teacher, employer, or community service organization representative, etc. (No letters from family members, please.)
- Scholarship Essay to include a personal statement, reason(s) behind your application for this scholarship, your intended academic major and the rationale, your interests, capabilities, and personality traits. Please include any pertinent information that hasn't been covered elsewhere in this application. Compose the essay in Microsoft Word, then copy and paste it into the designated essay section. Ensure that the essay is typed in Times New Roman, Arial, or Calibri font, with a font size of 12 points, double-spacing, and paragraph indention. The word count range is 500 to 1,000.

- Details about the allocation of scholarship funds to the recipients will be shared when the congratulatory letter is issued.
