Description of Responsibilities (for a detailed explanation of the responsibilities of both parties see MAC Certification Classes & Paid Project Classes Policies)
Manitou Art Center
- Reserve the selected studio space at the makerspace
- Display room reservation on MAC Event Calendar
- Provide tables and chairs if necessary
- Certification Classes only: Purchase supplies from a list provided by the teacher (Amazon, Dick Blick are the preferred retailers)
- Feature custom graphic, and class description on MAC 'Classes' page
- Promote workshop to MAC members via (1) auto-email
- Collect registrations on Wild Apricot
- Provide the teacher with Events Administrator privileges in Wild Apricot so that they may track registrants, manage waitlist, and communicate with registrants via the Wild Apricot App for Apple or Android
- Monitor registrations and waitlist and respond to cancellation and registration requests
- Maintain liability insurance and provide an electronic liability waiver form for registrants as part of the registration process (Project Classes open to the public)
- Certification Classes only: The pay rate is $25 per hour. Payments are mailed by the 15th of the month after the workshop occurred. Should a class be canceled due to a lack of enrollment prior to the start of the class, you will not receive payment
- Paid Classes only: The MAC will retain 30% of the tuition and disburse 70% to the teacher/organization by the 15th of the month after the workshop occurred.
- Certification Classes only: If no attendees show up for class, the teacher will be paid for the length of the class. If this is a multiple-session class, the teacher will be paid for session 1 only.
- Certification Classes only: Pay for the work on a prorated basis if at any time the Manitou Art Center determines the need to terminate this relationship (this is an at-will contract).
- If you, a Makerspace Member, Member of the Public, or MAC Staff, submit a Grievance Form, classes may be suspended to allow the MAC to proceed with Grievance procedures. (added 08/09/2022)

- Certification Classes only: Send an email with a list of supplies (if necessary) Amazon and Dick Blick preferred
- Check that all supplies and equipment are ready for the class, at least 5 days prior to the class, and notify the manager if supplies haven't been received and/or a room reservation isn't displayed on the MAC Event Calendar
- Be present, setup, and ready to teach at least 5 minutes before class starts
- Dress appropriately, modeling the ‘house rules’ of the space, i.e. closed-toe shoes, hair tied back, no long jewelry/lanyards in the woodshop, do not drink alcohol, or ingest other substances that may alter your ability to operate shop machinery
- Check-in workshop registrants on the WildApricot App or on Wild Apricot Desktop
- Notify the Makerspace Manager at least 2 hours prior to class if you are going to be absent via these numbers: 719-659-5371
- Clean and tidy the work area and equipment and leave it as you found it or cleaner!
- Submit a timesheet immediately after the workshop HERE (scroll to the bottom of the page and choose either a timesheet for a Paid or Certification class (this must be received by the 1st of the month following the workshop)
