  • By signing this contract, you are legally obligated to follow the requirements regarding the treatment and Texoma Dog Rescue 501c3 of the dog(s) adopted. If this contract is not followed Texoma Dog Rescue 501c3, reserves the right to remove the dog from the household. Texoma Dog Rescue 501c3 does not encourage the use of a crate at night. If the owner must use a crate, the owner agrees to limit the crate use to no more than a total of 8 hours per day. I understand that the dog being adopted is to be an INDOOR pet. The dog can go outside to go to the bathroom, or to do family activities. The dog is not to be left outside unattended, at night, or when no one is at home. I understand that the representatives from Texoma Dog Rescue 501c3 do their best to evaluate their dog's temperament; however we cannot be held responsible for any problems that may occur with the dog. This includes any behavioral or physical problems that may arise during the dog's lifetime. We do our best to ensure that their temperament is sound and that they are to the best of our knowledge, sweet, loving dogs. The dogs of Texoma Dog Rescue 501c3 are fully evaluated by a veterinarian to ensure their physical health and to identify the presence of any existing medical conditions. Dogs are treated for any illnesses and the paperwork that belongs to each dog will be passed along to the dog's adoptive family upon adoption. You agree to keep the dog a minimum of 3 weeks to give The dog time to adjust to his new home. You agree that  once you take possession of the dog and you have the dog for a period at 3 months or longer, the dog can no longer be returned to the ranch unless it's an extreme emergency situation.

  • I agree that if, for some reason, the dog is not working out (which should NEVER happen) then it is to be returned ONLY to Texoma Dog Rescue 501c3. This dog may not under any circumstances be given to a third party. Note: The dog being adopted may only reside with the adoptive family, or be returned to the

  • rescue. It is important, however, for the adoptive family to understand that when a dog is returned to us, there may a waiting period before we can take the dog back, as we will need to free up space in a foster home. When we place a dog, the space that dog has allowed in a foster home is typically immediately filled. For this reason, the adoptive home must understand that if there is a problem, SOS Texoma Dog Rescue 501c3 will make that dog a priority and take it back as soon as possible, but we cannot guarantee how much time that will take. The reason for that is we do not ever anticipate a dog return, as adoptions should be permanent. Also please note that the adopter is responsible for transportation to the new location where he/she will reside. In the event that the dog has been given to any third party (whether it be a relative, friend, animal control officer, shelter facility, etc) Texoma Dog Rescue 501c3 reserves the right to pursue and obtain a breach of contact fee of $2,000. I understand that my adoption fee is under no circumstances refundable. Fees exist to cover the medical Texoma Dog Rescue 501c3 of the dogs placed. This policy should never be a problem as once again, adoptions should be permanent. Regardless of time frame or issue adoption fee is not refundable. I agree that I will never physically abuse this dog. I understand that regardless of how this dog has misbehaved, there will never be anything that the dog will do that would necessitate physical discipline. I agree that I will not under any circumstances use my dog for any sort of fighting, gaming, or large game hunting as I understand the danger I will be putting my dog in, and how unethical any of these practices are. I understand that if I am adopting a puppy, it is my responsibility to raise this dog properly. Dogs require a lot of socialization and behavioral issues can stem from either lack of attention or socialization. I understand this and agree to properly socialize my dog with both other animals and people so that I have a confident, healthy adult dog. If I am adopting an adult dog, I also agree to socialize my dog as much as possible in order to maintain a happy, healthy lifestyle. I agree that regardless of whether or not I am adopting a puppy or adult dog, I understand that rough- house playing, tug of war, wrestling and other playing that challenges the dogs strength just encourages negative, dominant, and often aggressive behavior. I want my dog to be happy, sweet, affectionate, as well as positively representing rescue dogs. The best way to do that is to play fetch, and show the dog love. Encouraging aggressive behavior is unacceptable. I am certain that I am financially capable of paying for a dog and I will be able to handle the medical costs should an emergency arise. I agree to provide the dog all necessary medical care, and cost will never be a deciding factor as to whether or not I provide that to a dog. I will keep my dog on annual vaccines and heartworm preventative, no matter what.

  • I have thought out this adoption thoroughly, and believe that I can provide the best home for this dog that he or she could get. I agree to treat this dog as a part of the family and I agree to love it unconditionally for the rest of his or her life.

  • In the case that I am adopting a puppy, I am prepared to deal with issues that puppies can have: housebreaking, chewing, basic command training, etc. I understand that puppies do jump, scratch, and can knock children over. I am willing to train my puppy in order to curb or eliminate this type of behavior. I also understand that adult dogs may initially display undesirable behaviors when initially placed as they may be pushing their boundaries, learning what is expected of them, and getting used to new routines.

The representatives of Texoma Dog Rescue 501c3 will always be available to answer any questions regarding training techniques, and will be more than happy to assist you in determining the best raining methods for your new dog or puppy. Texoma Dog Ranch LLC encourages new and prospective owners to ask questions both before and after adoption. I understand that many of the dogs that come into this rescue group are sad, for one reason or another, and one thing we do to add comfort to their situation and enhance their quality of life is to allow them to go onto furniture. We appreciate that our adoptive homes take the same consideration for the dogs they are adopting and allow them some snuggle time on the sofas, beds, or both Remember that they are a part of your family! I understand that when dealing with rescue dogs and puppies there can be no guarantees as to what breed they are, what breed they are crossed with, or what they will grow up to look like. We do our best to make an educated guess, but we can of course never guarantee anything. It is also very important to us that our adoptive homes understand that dogs are only as good as their owners. We are a rescue that opts to place dogs in homes with families who are willing to love a dog for its sweet temperament and compatibility with their home rather physical appearance. I understand that regardless of what type of dog I am adopting, my dog represents rescues and I will be proud of my rescue dog no matter what. I will do my best to share the joy that rescuing a dog brings to anyone's life. I understand how much Texoma Dog Rescue 501c3 needs to know about the fate of the dogs they rescue, therefore I agree to allow a home visit from the rescue group at any time during the dog's life. I understand why this is needed and I am happy to agree. I agree to notify Texoma Dog Rescue 501c3 of any relocation so that we always know where the dog is located and how he or she is doing. Iagree to notify the rescue of any medical problem that may arise with the dog throughout his/her life. This is done so that we know the fate of our dogs, and also in the case that we would know a relative of the dog you are adopting, so that we may notify that dogs owners of a potential medical problem.

  • I understand that it is only fair that I adopt this dog if I am prepared and have the time for him/her. Because I know that, I agree to not leave my dog home alone for more than 8 hours per 24 hr. day period on average.

  • I agree to send updates at least monthly for the first year, with pictures or videos preferably. I agree to put the dog on heartworm preventative. We recommend, Heartguard, Revolution, Sentinel or Advantage Multi. If the dog has ANY issues, I promise to work with the dog for at least 4 weeks before sending the dog back to the rescue. I agree to this contract, and promise that for the duration of this dog's lifetime, all decisions made for him or her will only be in the dog's best interest.

    Addendum to adoption agreement:
