The goals of the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) are to stimulate and develop student interest in engineering and other technical fields; to increase the number of minority students pursuing engineering degrees at both undergraduate and graduate levels; to encourage members to seek advanced degrees and professional engineering licensure; to guide and inspire minority youth in their pursuit of engineering careers; to promote public awareness of engineering and the opportunities it offers to underrepresented groups; and to serve as a representative body on issues and developments affecting the careers of minority engineers.
Purpose:
To identify Tri-County Area (Autauga, Elmore, Montgomery) high school seniors who demonstrate academic excellence, leadership in student organizations, and plans to pursue a technical degree from an accredited four-year college or university.
Reward:
The National Society of Black Engineers, Montgomery Professionals Chapter (NSBE-MP) will award a $1,000 scholarship to a deserving minority high school senior committed to pursuing a technical degree at a recognized four-year college or university.
Qualifications:
To ensure that your application is complete, provide the applicable information below:
• Completed application.
• Current unofficial transcript**. Must include GPA.
• Applicants must attend a high school in the Tri-County area (Autauga,
Elmore, and Montgomery).
• Two (2) letters of recommendation from teachers, employers, guidance counselors,
academic advisors, and/or pastors.
• Copy of SAT and/or ACT test scores.
• Personal Statement (500 words or less).
The scholarship recipient and one guest will receive an invitation to attend an awards luncheon. At the luncheon, we will present the awardee with the NSBE-MP Scholarship.
NSBE-MP will contact awardee for their availability and with further details about the event.
