     TBD: athletes will be scheduled from Friday afternoon to Sunday evening

     

    All times and dates are subject to change based on registration numbers.

    This competition is scheduled to start on Friday March 15th. 

    By signing up you are acknowledging that you may be scheduled to compete on Friday afternoon.

    IPF Rules and drug testing to IPF specifications
     
    IPF approved equipment list
     
    Eligibility:
    Open to BCPA/CPU members that are in good standing with a valid CPU membership AND have achieved a qualifying total.
     
    No refunds will be given to athletes who sign up without a qualifying total or drop out.
     
    CPU membership must be in good standing on the date of registration.

    $165 - Full Powerlifting (3-lift)
    $100 - Bench Only
    $200 - Full Powerlifting and Bench Only
     
    $15 from every entry goes to the CPU anti-doping fund
     
    Athletes will be invoiced once the BCPA receives a booking permit from the City of Burnaby.
     
    Awards:
     
    Medals 1st, 2nd, 3rd Place in each weight class
    Best lifter - Open/Masters, Junior/Sub-Junior and Bench Press (minimum 5 per age category)

  • By Entering This Competition You Agree to the Following:


    All entry fees are non-refundable unless the competition is cancelled.

    This is a drug-tested competition. You must have completed the CCES TrueSport module prior to the date of competition. CCES certificates are valid for 1 year from completion.

    Bring government-issued picture ID along with your CPU card and CCES TrueSport certificate to present to the weigh-in officials.

    Each lifter will be limited to 1 coach or handler, unless competing equipped (limit of 2).

    Only lifters, coaches, handlers, and volunteers are permitted in the warm-up area.

  • To compete at the BCPA Provincial Championships you must have acheived a qualifying total. 

    Qualifying totals must be obtained in the 24 months prior to BC Provincial Championships. Qualifying totals can be obtained in an IPF-sanctioned competition including BCPA and CPU competitions (since 15th March 2022).

  • Full legal name as it appears on your government-issued ID must be used. Failure to use your legal name may result in anti-doping sanctions against you.

  • If you'd like to inform us of a preferred name, pronouns, or your name often gets mispronounced you can provide that information here.

  • MEMBERSHIP INFORMATION

  • Your CPU/BCPA membership must be current on the date of registration. You will be required to present your CPU membership card and government-issued photo ID at the competition. If you do not have a valid CPU membership card on the day of the competition then you will not be permitted to compete. If you do not have a government-issued photo ID that shows your birthdate then you will be entered into the Open age class.

  • To maintain your CPU membership in good standing and to compete, members are required to complete the CCES True Sport Clean module specific to the CPU. Certificates for the untracked version of the True Sport Clean module, or for any sport other than powerlifting, will not be accepted.

    Complete the CCES TrueSport Module here.

    This module must be completed by March 14, 2024.

  • LIFTING INFORMATION

  • The BCPA cannot guarantee availibility of National referees or higher for any or all sessions at Provincials. Knowing the intentions of athletes ahead of time allows us to best schedule available referees.

    Note: National records cannot be chipped at Provincials.

  • It is likely that True North will be the t-shirt supplier. If you're between sizes it is recommended to size up.

    Disclosure and Participant’s Assumption of Risks


    In consideration for permission granted by British Columbia Powerlifting Association to participate in its 2024 BCPA Provincial Powerlifting and Bench Press Championships (the “Activities”) I, the undersigned myself, my heirs, executors and administrators, hereby acknowledge and agree to waive any and all claims that I have or may in the future have against the Canadian Powerlifting Union, British Columbia Powerlifting Association, Christine Sinclair Community Centre, the City of Burnaby, the Province of BC and any of its employees, organizers, volunteers and sponsors of this competition, (the “Releasees”) and to release the Releasees from any and all liability for any loss, damage, expense or injury including death, that I may suffer, or that my next of kin may suffer as a result of my participation in any Activities sponsored or organized by the Releasees, DUE TO ANY CAUSE WHATSOEVER, INCLUDING NEGLIGENCE, BREACH OF CONTRACT OR BREACH OF ANY STATUTORY OR OTHER DUTY OF CARE, INCLUDING ANY DUTY OF CARE OWED UNDER THE Occupiers' Liability Act, RSBC 1996 c. 37 on the part of the Releasees and also including the failure on the part of the Releasees to safeguard or protect me from the risks, dangers and hazards of participating in the activities. I realize that Powerlifting is a high risk sport and that I could be injured. I certify that I am in good physical health and that I have no serious health problems and that I assume full responsibility for such conditions. I accept that I am fully responsible for my well-being and safety in the warm up room, on the lifting platform and while I am competing at this event. I am also aware that I am responsible for the actions of any coach and entourage that attends this contest in my support. I HAVE READ THIS WAIVER AND RELEASE OF LIABILITY FORM, FULLY UNDERSTAND ITS TERMS, AND I UNDERSTAND THAT I HAVE GIVEN UP SUBSTANTIAL RIGHTS BY SUBMITTING IT, AND SIGN IT FREELY AND VOLUNTARILY WITHOUT ANY INDUCEMENT.

    Once that is received all registered athletes will be emailed an invoice.

    Only once payment is received shall an athletes registration be confirmed.
