    2026 Online Scholarship Application and Information
  • TALLADEGA

  • Applicant: Please read the instructions carefully.

    Purpose: To provide scholarship support for students of Talladega and Coosa County Schools who will attend a four-year college, junior college or technical accredited school.
    Scholarship Amounts:  Scholarship amounts will range from $500.00 to $2,000.00.

    Scholarship Qualifications:

    1. Applicants must be a senior currently enrolled in a high school in the Talladega City School System, Talladega County School System, Sylacauga City School System, the Coosa County School System or AIDB.
    2. Applicant must have been accepted to attend a four-year college, junior college, community college or technical school.
    3. Applicant will be judged on academic achievement, financial need, extra-curricular participation, leadership potential and letters of recommendation.
    4. The minimum grade point average is 3.0; however, we encourage students who have demonstrated strong leadership skills and community service to apply.
    5. The scholarship recipient must apply and be accepted by the post-secondary institution that he/she plans to attend by mid August.
    6. The scholarship recipient must provide the Foundation with the name of the institution by September 1. The scholarship funds will be sent directly to the institution in the name of the winner.
    7. Completed applications with letters of recommendation must be received no later than 6 pm on March 6, 2026. 
    8. Interviews will be conducted during the last two weeks of April. You will be notified of the exact date and location if you are a finalist.

    Central Coosa High School Students can also apply for The David McElrath Memorial Scholarship. Qualifications are: Must be a senior at Central Coosa High School that will graduate in the Spring of 2026; must be African American; and have the understanding that the Kappas of Coosa County will be responsible for selecting the recipient. Students from Central Coosa County Schools may apply for both. Funds for this scholarship will be provided by Kappas of Coosa County.

  • DECISION FACTORS


    The following categories will be considered for final determination of the 2026 Kappa Alpha Psi scholarship recipients:

    Grade Point Average - The minimum grade point average is 3.0; however, we encourage students who have demonstrated strong leadership skills and community service to also apply. Our objective is to recognize achievement of candidates who are well-rounded and have demonstrated a willingness and capacity to be an asset to their community. Applicants on Advance Diploma Track are highly encouraged to apply.

    Leadership Potential - Our goal is to identify candidates who understand how world affairs affect them and their community. The successful candidate will have a healthy understanding of local, state and national political issues. He/she should be able to demonstrate the ability to analyze data, make effective decisions, and have the capacity and tendency to follow through.

    Graduation - The successful candidate must be eligible for graduation from high school in the Spring of 2026.

    College Admittance - The successful candidate must have been accepted for admission to an institution of higher learning or be eligible and awaiting acceptance.

    Financial Need - While this scholarship is based on family income, the applicant’s ability to pay for their education will be a consideration.

    Interview - Following our initial screening of completed applications, selected candidates will participate in an interview by a subcommittee of the Foundation.
