WHAT IS BMX?
BMX is a fast and fun action sport with jumps and turns on a track that can be 300m to 400m in length. The sport encourages beginners to participate and learn the skills needed to get the most enjoyment our of their time on the track! As riders become experienced in BMX they can launch down 5m or 8m start ramps, navigate jumps and fly around berms.
BMX (Bicycle Moto Cross) is one of the fastest growing sports in Australia. It’s a sport where the whole family can participate and riders of all ages (from 2 years +) can compete in organised race meetings throughout Australia.
BMX racing ranges from club to state level to national and world championship events for all ages.
BMX is also an elite Olympic sport. Any rider (subject to qualification requirements) has the chance to ride at the Australian National Championships and compete in the World Championships).
FAMILY INVOLVEMENT
BMX is a sport for the whole family, not just the kids – Mum & Dad can get involved too. Everyone can race and enjoy competition in their own age groups with riders of similar skill levels. BMX is a sport where friendships can be made and the competition ensures everyone can be involved as a rider, official or even a coach (subject to accreditation & screening). If you are already riding or looking to start, also take the time to consider volunteering for your club.
EQUIPMENT
All you need is either a 20inch or 24inch (Cruiser) BMX bike to get on the track. Remove any mudguards, chain guards, kick stand, pegs and reflectors for the safety of yourself and other riders. Ensure that there are no sharp edges on your handlebars (no torn grips with exposed metal). The only other thing you need is a rear brake that works! Before rolling on to the track your bike will be checked by an official and they will help with any minor adjustments.
WHAT TO WEAR

· LONG SLEEVE TOP or Race Jersey that is fitted at the wrist.
