  • What Is The DPW Roundup, Anyway? 

    This is a way for us to gather the info that we need to support our people. If you have been approved by a DPW Manager to come work with us this year, or are a returning DPW Veteran in good standing looking for a spot, you need to fill it out. Everyone fills it out, every year.

    What kinds of questions are there:

    • Essentials: Legal name, Contact info, Emergency info
    • Background info, what you bring with you in terms of experience
    • An affirmation that you'll abide by our rules and standards

    What we'll do with the info:

    • Make sure every crew member gets access to the support they need to work and live on playa
    • Reach out to folks off playa, as needed
    • Make sure people are remembered from year to year (and week to week during our hectic recruiting process)
    • Get you a BMID
    • Add you to the appropriate DPW mailing lists
    • Share it with emergency support staff as needed

    What we won't do with this info:

    • Sell it to anyone or post it in a public place

    What happens when you hit SUBMIT at the bottom:

    • Your info gets sent to the DPW Personnel team who check it against the roster and arrange for you to get a BMID, work credentials, a vehicle pass, swag, commissary/showers access, and/or sign you up to the dpw-work-list as appropriate.
    • You are NOT automatically added to the DPW roster. That will happen if the manager of a specific crew adds you to their roster. Go here for a list of crews.

    One more note:

    • You must have an updated Burner Profile! If you haven't updated your Burner Profile this year, please go do that now. http://profiles.burningman.org

    If you've been confirmed by a Manager to join their crew this year, you should be going through the onboarding process as normal. Talk to your Manager if you have questions.

    If you're a returning DPW and don't have a crew lined up yet, your name will go on our Recruiting List where Managers can reach out to you, but your best bet would be proactively contacting the Managers/Council Members of the crew you want to be on directly. Check out the DPW Crews List for more info!

  • Do you think you'll be applying to bring a dog/cat? *You must have your Manager's permission to APPLY! Ask them for a link to the Staff Dog/Cat Program Site* *This Checkbox is NOT an application!* *Please remember this is highly discouraged and often creates more hardship to bring than leave at home. Also, not all contract-types allow dogs/cats; a permit for one crew/phase is not a green light for the next. The need to have your dog/cats on-site is assessed on a case-by-case basis and is not automatic approval. If you show up to DPW with an unapproved dog/cat, you will be turned away. Seriously.****

    The DPW Black Market online store is not yet open for hoodie orders- keep an eye open for the launch email on the dpw-work list! Once we open it, place your orders as soon as possible. Very limited sizes of basic zip-up hoodies will be available for purchase on playa and we *usually run out of sizes. Pullover and American Giant hoodies will not be available for sale on playa. There is a FAQ that will likely answer all of your questions, so please check it out before sending inquiries to dpwblackmarket@burningman.org

  • DPW Commitment

    Over the years, we’ve built a set of rules and agreements that are designed to keep us all safe, alive, and healthy out there.   • Every person in DPW must:

    • Have an up-to-date Burner Profile.

    • Have read and agree to abide by all of the rules and standards listed in the DPW Handbook. (dpw.burningman.com) 

    • Have read, understand and agree to adhere to Burning Man's Behavioral Standards Agreement, and Burning Man's Harassment, Discrimination, And Retaliation Prevention Policy
    • Follow through on the commitments they make and take their contribution to the work seriously.

    • Inform their manager or recruiter as soon as they become aware that something has changed that affects their ability to show up for the commitments they have made.

  • A Couple Last Things

    • Participation in this year's DPW is not a guarantee of participation in future seasons. We rebuild the roster each year to accommodate the needs of the Project.
