Why does oral health matter?

Oral health is a central component of general health and should not be isolated from the rest of the body. Oral diseases are increasingly linked with other general health and systemic diseases and contribute significantly to the burden of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) on healthcare systems, individuals and societies.

To promote good oral health, and therefore general health, for all EU citizens, policy actions are required at both the EU and country levels. We call on European policymakers to take all the necessary actions to actively support good oral health by taking forward our policy recommendations in the next EU mandate.

The Platform for Better Oral Health in Europe is proud to launch its 2024-2029 Manifesto at the European Parliament in Brussels. Join us on 13 February 2024 for what promises to be a lively discussion ahead of the EU elections.
