Playing chamber music is fun and exciting way to connect with others and grow as a musician. The ESYO Chamber Music Program strives to develop ensemble leadership skills, expand knowledge and appreciation for chamber music literature, and empower students to become self-reliant in a non-conducted ensemble.
Participants are organized into trios, quartets, or quintets according to skill level and appropriate instrumentation. Each chamber music group receives a minimum of six coachings led by a professional musician in preparation for performances and masterclasses throughout the spring.
New members who are not currently participating in an ESYO ensemble may join based upon a successful audition. Applicants will need to submit a recording of their playing for acceptance and ensemble placement by January The audition requirements consist of two contrasting pieces (3-4 minutes in length) demonstrating the applicants full range and technical ability. It is expected that students can perform repertoire equivalent to NYSSMA Level 5 or above.
Those interested in becoming new members need to first complete and submit this audition form before they complete the registration form. Applicants will be notified by January 29 whether or not they were accepted. Those accepted into the ESYO chamber music program should register by February 2.
