based off a continuous head count and attendance form. If this requires off site evacuation the previous plan will be followed. The appropriate authorities will be consulted prior to re-entry into the building.
Staff are instructed to open all windows immediately to facilitate proper ventilation. 911 will be called to report the possible gas leak, no electrical switches will be turned on or off until it is determined there is no risk. If Gas taps are present, they will be shut off. If the gas odor is strong, children will be evacuated to the off-site location following the off-site procedures. Staff and children shall not return to the building until the fire department declares it safe to do so.
The director will determine if the heat/air can be restored in a timely manner. In the even the heat/air cannot be restored, parents will be contacted immediately to pick up their children. If parents cannot be reached, emergency contacts and designated release contacts will be notified of the situation.
Necessary first aid and CPR techniques will be employed if needed. Contact 911 if immediate medical attention is required. If an illness or injury requires a doctor’s care, but is not an emergency, staff member will contact the parents or arrange for transportation to the nearest doctor/emergency room as designated by the child’s admission form.
Staff should attempt to identify any unfamiliar person and ask them the purpose of their visit. If the person has no business at the facility, ask them to leave. If the intruder/person is hostile or threatening, immediately call law enforcement. All staff should then be instructed to follow lock down procedures to ensure the safety of their children. They must lock all doors and windows that are equipped with locks. Children should be moved into the safest corner of the classroom that is away from doors and windows. Lockdown procedure will remain in effect until given notice by the director. Evacuation should only occur If directed by law enforcement; off-site evacuation procedure will then take place.
Photo Release: Photographs and videos are taken regularly including occasions such as birthdays, holidays, outings and special activities. We use these pictures/videos in our childcare home for teaching, arts & crafts, albums, the KLF Childcare website and marketing and the KLF social media page.
