2024 Sandra Ghormley Academic Excellence Scholarship Application Form

Application Guidelines:
Homer Electric Association’s (HEA) Scholarship Committee will award scholarships to eligible high school seniors graduating in the 2023-24 school year who will attend an accredited community college, junior college, college or university. Scholarship amounts are to be determined by the Board of Directors. The committee will select the winners based on the merits of the applicant. Scholarship recipients will be selected in April.

Scholarship funds will be disbursed through the recipient’s chosen school. Scholarship money may be used for registration, tuition, books, or room and board.

Funds not used by the recipient within two semesters of initial registration will revert to the HEA scholarship trust.

Eligibility Requirements
Eligibility Requirements

To be considered for an HEA Senior Academic Scholarship, the applicant must:
- Be a resident of HEA’s service area and reside in the home of a parent or legal guardian served by the Cooperative. To be presumed a resident, the applicant must be eligible for the Alaska Permanent Fund Dividend.
- Be a senior from a public or private secondary school within the HEA service area who is graduating in the 2023-24 school year. Scholarships are intended to support students that plan to attend an accredited community college, junior college, college or university.
- Only submit a scholarship packet for consideration in one category.
- Follow all instructions and submit a completed 2024 packet in the order listed below with nothing more or nothing less, to be considered a qualified candidate:
  1. Completed Application
  2. High School Transcript
  3. Three (3) Letters of Recommendation
  4. One (1) Recent Photo of the Applicant
  5. Photo Waiver Release Form
- DEADLINE - Submit a completed application packet to the HEA Scholarship Committee no later than 5:00 p.m. on April 1, 2024. Submissions can be made using one of the three delivery methods listed below:
  1. Electronic form submission via www.homerelectric.com
  2. Postal mail addressed to: HEA, 280 Airport Way, Kenai AK 99611; Attn: HEA Scholarship Committee
  3. Personal delivery to 280 Airport Way, Kenai AK OR 3977 Lake Street, Homer AK; Attn: HEA Scholarship Committee
