  • Godparents

  • Your child needs at least one baptized and confirmed Catholic Godparent who practices the faith. A baptized non-Catholic Christian can also serve as a Christian witness as long as your child has one baptized and confirmed Catholic Godparent.

Here is a great video to watch and share on the important and beautiful role of Godparents. It may help you choose who you invite to be your child's Godparent(s).

  • Baptism Preparation

  • Belonging: Baptism in the Family of God is our baptismal preparation program designed to provide parents with an incredible encounter with Jesus and the Church.

This program will prepare parents for the Baptism of their child and give them the tools they need to raise their child in the faith. Through this program, parents will learn what it means to be children of God and that in the Church, they will always have a place where they belong.

Mothers and fathers seeking baptism for their children are both required to participate in baptismal preparation before the child's baptism date. Godparents are most welcome as well but are not required to attend. The preparation is in two parts: an online portion (roughly 2 hours) and an in-person portion from 12-2 p.m. on the first Sunday of the month. The online portion must be completed before attending an in-person meeting. We will email you all preparation details as your dates approach.

  • Receiving the Sacrament

  • Your child will be baptized on the second Sunday of the month at the 11:30 a.m. Mass at Immaculate Conception in Newburyport. It is a beautiful celebration with the choir and the whole community welcoming your child. We will reserve pews so there is plenty of room up front for you, your family and friends. Wiggly noisy children (and grownups!) are most welcome and we can’t wait to celebrate with you all. If the Sunday celebration does not work for you (or is full for your month of preference), your child can be baptized in a group baptism service on the second Saturday of the month at 1:30 p.m. at Immaculate Conception.

If you would like to have your child baptized at St. Ann or Nativity, please add a note to the special circumstances section of this form.

  • Registration Fee

  • There is a $25 registration fee. This helps cover administrative costs. However, if your financial situation does not allow for it, we are happy to waive the fee.
