***APPLICATION GUIDELINES***

Who Can Apply: Stanislaus County Educators from SPIE's partnering School Districts

Qualifying Grades: K-12th

Application Cycle: Ongoing, July 1, 2024 - June 30, 2025, or until funding is depleted

Program Time Requirement: 16 hours minimum, not to exceed 40 hours

Compensation rate: $45/hour

Program Outline & Requirements:
- Educator may apply for this program throughout the fiscal year (July – June).
- Educator will participate in a brief phone interview with SPIE's Programs Manager.
- Educator will be matched with a business based on their subject expertise, interests, career education goals.
- Educator will attend an online orientation with business host via Zoom.
- Work-based Learning experience will take place at a mutually agreed upon time (between the business host and educator) between July 1, 2024 and June 30, 2025.
- Educator will spend a pre-determined amount of time at the host business immersed in the company culture and operations.
- Educator will be responsible for keeping track of hours worked and submitting a timesheet to SPIE signed by the business host.
- Educator will be responsible for submitting to SPIE an online Summary Report, 5 photos, thier signed timesheet, and a Career Education Lesson Plan within two weeks of completing their work-based learning experience.
- Educator will be paid at a rate of $45.00 per hour – not to exceed 40 hours per fiscal year.

Program Goals
- Exposure to Cutting-Edge Trends: Educators will gain firsthand exposure to the latest trends, technologies, and practices in various industries. By immersing themselves in the dynamic environments of local businesses, they will witness the real-world applications of academic concepts.
- Adaptation of Teaching Methods: Armed with up-to-date industry insights, educators will have the knowledge and inspiration to modify or adapt their teaching methods. This program encourages creative approaches that resonate with the ever-evolving needs of the job market.
- Building Professional Connections: Educators will have the opportunity to forge invaluable connections with professionals in their respective fields. These relationships may lead to further collaboration, such as guest lectures, mentorship, or joint projects, enriching the learning experience for both students and educators.
- Skill Development: By actively participating in the day-to-day operations of local businesses, educators will have the chance to update and develop their own skills. This hands-on experience ensures that educators remain at the forefront of their fields, setting an example for their students.
- Preparing Students for Local Jobs: The ultimate goal of this program is to equip educators with the tools and knowledge to prepare students for rewarding local job opportunities. By aligning classroom teachings with the practical demands of local industries, we aim to produce a workforce that is ready to excel in the local job market.
