The WAO Board of Directors includes 10 members:
- 4 officers (President, Past-President, Vice President and Secretary/Treasurer)
- 6 At-Large Directors
A new Secretary-Treasurer is elected each year, succeeds to Vice-President the following year, President in their 3rd year and ends their officer term as Past-President. Two (2) At-Large Directors are elected each year and serve 3-year terms. Candidates for all positions should be active, practicing ophthalmologists in Wisconsin and members in good standing of WAO.
Board members guide the Academy’s work by setting priorities, and review emerging issues throughout the year to be advocates for members and their patients. There are 6 board meetings throughout the year; all are held virtually for 1-hour (typically 3rd Mondays of odd-numbered months at 7pm). Board members are also asked to help promote events and Academy initiatives.
Board nominations are accepted throughout the year. A slate of candidates is presented to the membership in June for approval before taking office July 1.
