Application Process and Term
The University of Ottawa Space Law Society (SLS) is recruiting a 1L Rep from the University of Ottawa (Common Law or Civil Law Program), starting in February 2024. The successful applicant will be motivated and available to remain an executive member in the 2024-2025 school year. Applications are due January 26 at 11:59pm EST via www.spacelawottawa.com. The University of Ottawa Space Law Society (founded in 2023) unites and serves students, academia, industry, government, and communities who share a mutual interest in the governance of outer space activities. The Society has three main aims: contribute to the field of space law and policy, both domestically and internationally; create and promote practical opportunities for students with an interest in space law; serve and engage with community, industry, and government. About the Role
As a 1L representative you will join the executive team and have experience across the three parts of the SLS mandate. This can include supporting domestic or international policy advocacy, facilitating practical work and internship opportunities for students interested in space law, and buildling community through engaging interdisciplinary events. For the 1L joining in 2024, the focus will be on supporting the VP Editorial in organizing The Ottawa Space Colloquium (March 16, 2024), in partnership with students and faculty from the Department of Engineering. The interdisciplinary event will bring together students, experts and industry members to share insights, research and projects related to space law and technology.
