Brookside Club of Saratoga is looking for responsible and enthusiastic individuals to provide a fun and safe environment by monitoring and ensuring the safety of members and guests at our aquatic facilities. Lifeguards are trained in lifesaving, first aid, CPR, and using an AED to respond to emergencies both at the pool and the rest of the facility. Apply to be part of the guard staff this summer season!
Application Process
- Deadline extended Apply by Feb 21
- Lifeguard Tryout (one day only): 2/17, 2/18, 2/24, or 2/25
- Interviews will be offered to qualified candidates on 2/26
- Interviews will take place 3/1 - 3/10
- Offers will be made on 3/11
Mandatory Training
May 10th or May 11th (4hr)
Jun/Jul: weekly on Mondays at 9 am
Job Duties
Lifeguard shifts are 3 - 4.5 hours long, in which guards will rotate every 15 minutes between their primary duty of scanning the water and their secondary responsibilities for the duration of their shift.
Primary responsibility– scanning zone every 10 seconds, performing rescues when necessary
Secondary responsibilities– supervise aquatics facility activities to ensure compliance with policies and safety procedures while being ready and available to provide emergency backup coverage and assist patrons:
- Provide excellent customer service
- Assist in maintaining cleanliness
- Enforce pool regulations
- Administer first aid
- Manage incident and accident reporting
- Evaluate safety conditions, keep accurate records
- Open and close the pool daily
- Maintain a clear and clean pool deck and seating areas
- Maintain a professional appearance
- Other duties as assigned to support the club and membership
2024 Season Details
Regular Lifeguarded Hours:
- May: weekdays 4 - 8:30 pm, weekends 12 - 8:30 pm
- June/July: everyday 12 - 9 pm
- Aug: 12 - 8:30 pm, then weekdays at 4 - 8:30 pm
Holiday Lifeguarded Hours
- Memorial Day: 11 am - 8:30 am
- 4th of July: 11 am - 9 pm
- Labor Day: 11 am - 7:30 pm
