• Climate Imperatives: 2024

    Thurs 29th Feb, 6pm -7:15pm

As we navigate a critical juncture in history, we are revisiting Greta Thunberg’s The Climate Book, one year on from publication. Bringing together contributors and those at the forefront of the climate crises we will be assessing how the content of the book has evolved in the past 12 months and how the trends will continue to play out into the future.

Joining the discussion is Farhana Yamin, a renowned lawyer and climate justice advocate, whose sharp insights will underscore the pressing need for swift and decisive climate action against the backdrop of 2024's political crossroads. Kevin Anderson, a zero emissions expert from Manchester and Uppsala Universities, will unravel the compelling narrative behind why academics must courageously share unfiltered truths about climate change. And Nina Schrank, Head of Plastics at Greenpeace and a contributor to The Climate Book, will guide us through the imperative to 'turn off the tap' on plastics, as outlined in the book.

In this pivotal year, our panel will delve into critical questions: What must unfold in 2024 to divert us from a dire future? What initiatives are our speakers championing that will make a key difference in this crucial timeframe?
