Welcome to the St. Matthew’s Safeguarding Information Form. Please read the following details and complete the form below. Once we receive your form, we will get you started in the Episcopal Diocese of Texas (EDOT) Safeguarding training process. This process has five steps:
- Complete this form: This will help us start your training process.
- Interview: When we receive the form, the Safeguarding Records Administrator (SRA) will create or locate your profile in the EDOT system. The SRA will likely call you with a few interview questions.
- Online Training: After this interview, you will be emailed links to start the self-paced portion of the training. These are online videos from Praesidium Academy which are somewhat specific to the work you'll be doing at St. Matthew's (like working with the youth, serving on vestry, or visiting seniors in care facilities).
- References: You will be asked for four references. For each, you will provide their name, relationship to you, email address, and phone number. The form is sent to them electronically so be sure the email address is correct or your application cannot move forward.
- Background Check: Your application requires that you authorize the church to conduct a background check. If your position includes handling money, you may also be required to authorize the church to conduct a credit check.
- Register for a Universal Training class: Once you finish the application steps, you will need to up for a real-time training class (perhaps in-person or virtual). While St. Matthew's aims to offer in-person trainings, you may find signing up for a class from a different church or directly from the diocese works better for your schedule.
- Attend training: Upon completion of Safeguarding training process, your profile in the EDOT system will be updated with your eligibility dates.
The SRA will monitor your application, review background checks, monitor training class completion, review responses from your references, and generally manage your Safeguarding process. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please contact your SRA: Lise Harding, lharding@stmattsaustin.org or 512-345-8314.
