The Parks & Recreation Department offers a creative and fun Counselor in Training (C.I.T) program designed to develop young teens into leaders. Foster City Summer Camp staff are looking for teens to participate in our 2024 Summer Camp Programs (Kamp Koala, Camp Outback, & Camp Wayoutback). The C.I.T program gives teens the opportunity to prepare for future employment through an interview process to strengthen their skills, experience working with youth, training opportunities, and a chance to serve in leading roles throughout the day in camp.

Selection Process

To be selected as a CIT you must:
1. Fill out an application via Jotform by April 5th at 5pm. Spaces are limited. Late applications will not be accepted.
2. Be entering 8th - 12th grade.
3. Be able to attend groups interview the week of April 15.
4. Accepted applicants will have to attend a mandatory training on Friday, June 14, 2024. Program fees are due after an applicant has been accepted into the program, and must be paid by June 14 or they will not be able to attend training. All checks must be written out to “City of Foster City.”
5. Be willing to attend additional meetings as necessary.

CIT Positions

CIT 1

Candidates may be selected to support between 2-6 weeks of camp. Candidates may have little to no previous experience in camps. If selected, CIT 1s will be assigned shifts from 9:00am to 12:00pm or 1:00pm-4:00pm. CIT 1s are responsible for assisting staff with supervision of campers, providing assistance to staff, learning the daily camp routine, and interacting with campers. CIT 1 candidates must be entering 8th - 12th grade.

Program Fee: $50 each week

CIT 2

Candidates may be selected to support between 2-6 weeks of camp. Candidates must have some experience working in day camps or with children. CIT 2 shifts will be from 9:00am-4:00pm. CIT 2’s are responsible for assisting staff with implementation of camp activities, assisting with supervision of campers, participating and interacting with campers, and providing ideas for camp activities. CIT 2 candidates must be high school aged 9th - 12th grade.
