Honors Instructor Certification

There are two steps to get certified: (1) get certified as an Honors Instructor through an orientation/workshop participation; (2) get each of your Honors Canvas Courses reviewed and certified as well. To request the Honors Canvas Shell and to start the certification process please fill out the information below.

Requesting Model Honors Canvas Shell
Important: you will receive one Honors Canvas shell to serve multiple courses you teach. For example, if you teach two different History courses about different historic periods, but your requirements for Honors Projects are the same for both courses, with the only difference being the topics/historic period, then you can simply put all your honors students from both courses together in this one Honors Canvas Shell. However, if you want your Honors requirements/types of assignments to differ between the two courses you teach, then you might want to request another Honors Canvas Shell later, to have a separate Honors Canvas shell for each of the different courses you teach. In that case, please send an email to ikeller@laspositascollege.edu to request a second shell.
What discipline do you teach or how should we call your Canvas? *Please note that we will always start the title of the course with "HONORS" and we will add your last name to the title as well (to make a distinction from another honors course in the same discipline with another instructor). For example, we have Honors Psychology/Keller; Honors Psychology/Roy, Honors Math/McHale, Honors Math/Olavarrieta*
NEXT STEPS

Once you get the Model Honors Canvas and then personalize it the way you want to teach it after you complete your certification orientation - please send me an email at ikeller@laspositascollege.edu and add me to your Canvas as another teacher. I will review your Canvas and your certification will be completed. Then you can reuse the same Canvas shell in the following semesters.
