  • Presented by Lucy Guerin Inc and Temperance Hall, Out of Bounds is an exciting choreographic ideas sharing platform.

The program invites Victorian dance artists to present a short showing of their recent choreographic investigations to local audiences, fellow artists and peers. The initiative also provides participants with the opportunity to receive creative feedback about their work, with post-showing discussions facilitated by experienced dance practitioners.

Out of Bounds 2024 is at WXYZ Studios on Saturday 20 & Sunday 21 April.

Curated by LGI’s Artistic Director, Lucy Guerin and former Temperance Hall Artistic Director Dr. Phillip Adams, the program has places for up to 24 artists to present an excerpt of a work in development of up to 10 minutes. Each work-in-progress showing will be presented just once across the weekend.

Out of Bounds seeks to represent dance artists from across all forms, practices, cultures, histories, lineages, styles, disciplines, aesthetics and experimentations. The program’s aim is to show new work in a raw state—providing a generous, open space for artists to take risks and try out their ideas. Works will not be programmed if they are complete or have previously received a public outcome.

The EOI is now open and closes at 10am on Tuesday 27 February 2024.

Submissions are strongly encouraged and warmly welcomed from artists identifying as First Nations, CALD, Deaf or Disabled, and LGBTIQA+.
