  • How Am I Doing? Rate Your Own Use of Goal Setting

    Answer the following questions to determine if learning and practicing Goal Setting skills may be an important skill for you to improve upon.
  • 1. I set specific goals for my training.*
  • 2. I set specific goals for my races and events, other than just placement.*
  • 3. I set goals on a regular basis.*
  • 4. I review my goals following training sessions and/or races.*
  • 5. I reset my goals if I get sick, or injured, or have a change in my schedule.*
  • 6. I critically analyze my performance if I don’t meet my race goals, even if the outcome was good. For example, winning a race, or my age group, against a weak field.*
  • 7. I give myself credit for meeting race goals, even if the outcome was less than I had hoped for. For example, finishing further down the field, but against stacked competition.*
  • 8. I make sure to remain focused on my race goals even when I am winning.*
  • 9. I write my goals down.*
  • 10. Goal setting changes the way that I train and compete.*
