Are you interested in Full or Limited(pet) registration? Full registration will be discussed in detail with Port Bay Danes prior to authorization. An additional fee of $1000 will be added to the final balance for full registration. No additional fees will apply to limited registration.
Do you understand and accept that if you are purchasing a Great Dane puppy on a limited contract, they must be spayed/neutered? It is recommended that altering should be performed after the dog is 18 months.
Females will have approximately 2-3 heat cycles in this time frame. Are you familiar and prepared for this and agree to not breed your dog? Breeding intentionally, or accidentally can and will result in legal proceedings as stated in the contract (applies to male and female dogs).
Are you interested in having your puppy's ears cropped? Do you have a Veterinarian who will perform this service?
Who is your regular Veterinarian?If you do not have a current Vet, please research who is accepting new clients and set up a new client file as soon as possible.
Do you own other animals? Please list all below:
Are your other animals kept on monthly prevention, updated on vaccines, and have a current exam (once per year minimum) with your Veterinary Hospital?
Are you willing to consult your Veterinarian, breeder (PBD) and/or trainer for tips and tricks on ensuring the best integration for your new puppy?
Have you researched this breed and have educated yourself as much as possible on what to expect of your new puppy?
Are you willing to commit to your new dog for the next 10+ years?
Do you rent or own your home? If renting, is there a clause regarding breed restrictions? Do you have permission to own a giant breed dog?
How many, if any, children and additional adults live in the home with you? Is everyone on board with getting a giant breed dog with the understanding that he/she can reach a weight of 180lbs?
Will this dog live inside the home with you and family, or do you plan to keep them outside for longer periods of time on a lead, chain, and dog house?
Do you have a fenced in yard? If not, how are you planning to exercise your dog?
Do you understand and accept the responsibility of training your puppy? Are you comfortable knowing they will jump, chew, drool, play nip, pull on the leash etc... until they are trained how to behave appropriately?
Do you plan to crate train your puppy? If not, are you comfortable training them to free roam your house with the understanding that puppies will chew and potentially destroy everything they can find?
Do you understand and accept that it may take up to (and exceed in extreme cases) 3 months for your puppy to fully acclimate to their new home and routine? This also includes introducing existing animals in the home to the new puppy.
Do you understand and accept the financial cost of this breed of dog? They eat a lot of food and require large doses of medications such as monthly flea/tick/heartworm prevention, medications/surgery in general, and supplements later in life that is a much larger cost than a small breed pet.
Do you understand that there is nonrefundable deposit of $500.00 to secure your spot for a puppy of your choice? (Picks are done in order of deposit received. Should something happen to your puppy prior to being placed in your care, due to no fault of your own, you will be reimbursed your deposit. You may still complete the application, but this does not secure a puppy until deposit is placed).
Do you understand that if at any point in time you are unable to care for your Great Dane, you are to return the dog to Port Bay Danes with no financial reimbursement? Arrangements may be made to accommodate the best choice for everyone involved with the dog being the most important.
