This three-day Summer camp is designed to introduce middle school students (grades 6-8/ages 11-14) to the field of architecture.
Our mission is to empower young people to affect change in their community through design. We advocate for increased inclusiveness, diversity, fellowship, equity, and excellence in design.
Through Project Pipeline, young people grasp the significance of architecture in their daily lives, as well as the broader cultural, social, and historical implications. They develop skills and tools to contribute to their community critically and constructively.
Students investigate through drawing and model building, analyze through diagramming, and research, and engage through interviews and site visits. By the program’s conclusion, students present a fully realized project that addresses the design challenge. Campers are guided by professional architects and designers through all stages of the design.
Campers registered for the camp will be provided with design kits that include all materials and supplies they will need for the camp. Students are encouraged to supplement the camp-supplied materials with found objects around the house or neighborhood in order to integrate sustainability and reuse into their design process.
Project Pipeline nationally has served more than 10,000 students over the last decade.
