    McGregor Athletic Booster Club Scholarship Guidelines

  • The McGregor Athletic Booster Club will award the following scholarships to MHS seniors:

    1) Black and Gold: (2) $1,500.00 scholarships.

    2) Bulldog Pride: (2) $1,000.00 scholarships.

    3) Bruiser Award: (2) $750.00 scholarships.

    4) Legacy: $500.00 scholarships awarded to all remaining applicants who meet the requirements.

  • Applicant must complete and submit the following documents:                                       

    1) Complete the MHS Athletic Booster Club Scholarship Application.

    2) A one-page typed (12-point font, double-spaced) essay, that includes the following:

    a) Description of extra efforts that allow you to perform to the best of your ability.

    b) Description of how you provide a positive example for others, such as being a good role model, and exhibiting good sportsmanship and character.

    3) A reference letter from your choice of an MHS coach that describes your sportsmanship, integrity, and leadership.

  • Applicants will be judged on the following criteria:

    1) Participation in sports and extracurricular activities

    2) Coach's Recommendation (sportsmanship, integrity, and leadership)

    3) Personal Essay

  • Notes:

    The recipients may or may not be the team's best student athlete, but have shown exceptional enthusiasm, participation, effort, spirit and dedication to warrant this special recognition. These scholarships will be awarded to a senior athlete with high morals and integrity both on and off the field. Must have exemplary classroom behavior with outstanding work ethic and leadership qualities.

    Transfer student-athletes must letter as a varsity member, and their parent/guardian must be an active member of the Booster Club during the athletic season they participate. 

    Scholarship applications must be reviewed and awarded by a scholarship committee (SC). The SC will consist of a minimum of 1 school administrator (to verify grades and school character), 1 Booster Club board member (to verify parental/guardian involvement in the Booster Club), and at least 1 member from the community. Two additional community members can be added, but must always be an odd number of 3 or 5 people total. No committee member can be related to any applicants.

    The MABC scholarship will be disbursed for the Fall 2025 and Spring 2026 semesters only. There is no deferment allowed. The recipient must provide proof of enrollment and registration for 12 semester hours. Enrollment proof is due before check is issued. The award letter will have more detailed instructions for submitting this information.

    The application and all of the required attachments must be submitted no later than Friday, April 18th, 2025. It is the responsibility of the applicant to ensure that all documents are complete and submitted.
