Scholarship Award General Information
Selection Criteria
Primary consideration will be given to students who demonstrate a financial need for the scholarship funds. This consideration will also be supplemented by completion of other requirements and the applicant's final interview.
In addition, the applicant must:
- Be a Broward County resident.
- Be a Broward High School Senior currently enrolled in a broward county public , charter, private, virtual, or home education school.
- Meets the preferred 3.3 or higher (academic core weighted) GPA on a 4.0 scale in core academic units, has the required units and has achieved the minimum scores for each SAT, ACT, or CLT as outlined by the University for admission.
REQUIREMENTS: The documents below must be submitted electronically.
- Typed Essay Response
- Official High School Transcript
- Completed and signed application
- Professional Headshot or Senior Picture.
- Two (2) Signed Letters of Recommendations.
- One letter MUST be from a school faculty member (teacher, guidance counselor or BRACE with appropriate letterhead)
- Second letter may be a reference from someone who knows the student well and can provide specific examples of their qualities and achievement. (ex. community leader, coach, pastor, employer or mentor).
- An electronic copy of the student's proof of receipt of their returned FAFSA results or Student Aid Report (SAR)
- Copy of Official FAMU Acceptance Letter for the Summer/Fall 2025 Semester. Letter must include applicant's name.
- An official score report from the College Board for either the ACT/SAT/CLT.
All completed scholarship applications are due by Saturday, February 1, 2025. Scholarship recipients will be announced and notified electronically by email and/or during their high school senior award night.
All scholarship funds will be awarded directly to Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University upon proof of admission, enrollment verification, and/or documentaion received from the University.
Awards will be made without regard to race, creed, color, sex, religion, or national origin. All eligible applicants will be interviewed by a panel before a selection is made.
