Trinity (TX) Chapter, The Links, Incorporated will anounce the recipients of the Scholarship for Excellence by May 2026. The amount of the scholarship will depend on the number of awardees selected.
The Scholarship for Excellence is dedicated to helping highly motivated students and/or current or former So SMAART participants who have demonstrated a strong commitment to community and school involvement, leadership and to pursuing their college education. The purpose of the scholarship is to help pay for an education at an accredited institution of higher education, including community college or a four-year university.
High School Applicant Requirements
*Student must be a graduating senior from a Dallas County High School and must:
- Submit a completed application (complete each field in Sections I, II, III, and IV). All Sections must be completed to be considered;
- Have a cumulative Grade Point Average of 3.0 or higher (on a 4.0 system);
- Submit a current high school transcript;
- Submit a letter of Recommendation from a teacher, an employer, or an organization; and
- Submit a two minute video discussing your educational and career goals that support the vision of The Links, Incorporated (VISION: Enrich communities and improve the quality of life for people of African descent.) The video must be sent to: trinitylinksinc.scholarship@gmail.com.
High School applicants will be judged on the following criteria:
- Financial need;
- School organization participation, including leadership positions;
- Community/civic involvement, including leadership positions;
- High School Transcript;
- Contents in the letter of recommendation; and
- Video submission.
*Students who are related to a member of the The Links, Incorporated are not eligible to apply.
Current, Collegiate Scholarship Recipients Requirements (Sustaining Scholars)
For current, collegiate scholarship recipients (*Sustaining Scholars) to be considered, you must submit the following:
- Only complete Section I of the Application (DO NOT complete Sections II, III, and IV; all fields in Section I must be completed);
- College Transcript; and
- Video submission- two minute video on your collegiate journey, including your academic success and participation in school organizations and/or community involvement. The video must be sent to trinitylinksinc.scholarship@gmail.com.
*Students (Sustaining Scholars) who are related to a member of the The Links, Incorporated are not eligible to apply.
Please note, previous receipt of a scholarship from Trinity (TX) Chapter does not guarantee a scholarship will be provided in the future.
Application Deadline
To be considered for the Scholarship for Excellence, please submit a completed application and all required items on or by Sunday March 22, 2026. Incomplete, late application submission, and/or those including missing documents/video submission will not be eligible for scholarship awards.
Trinity (TX) Chapter will notify all Scholarship for Excellence recipients by email in April 2026. It is imperative that you provide a correct, current email address in order to receive notification from the chapter regarding the status of your application. An event will be held to recognize awardees - date and location TBD.
NOTE FOR HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS SELECTED: Before the scholarship award is disbursed for graduating high school seniors, you must submit (1) proof of graduation from a Dallas County high school and (2) an official enrollment verification certificate or letter from the post-secondary institution you will be attending in the fall. These documents must be submitted by September 1, 2026 to trinitylinksinc.scholarship@gmail.com. Failure to meet this deadline will result in forfeiture of scholarship.
NOTE FOR CURRENT, COLLEGIATE RECIPENTS (SUSTAINING SCHOLARS) SELECTED: To receive scholarship funds, you must provide an official enrollment verification certificate or letter for the 2027-2027 school year from your institution by September 1, 2026 to trinitylinksinc.scholarship@gmail.com. Failure to meet this deadline will result in forfeiture of scholarship.
The scholarship award must be used for enrollment, tuition, fees, and books required for instruction at an accredited institution.
